  • N1 Turbo's and N1 pumps = A lot of kicking a**

Found this video on you tube, its been viewed almost 25,000 times and Im sure Iv watched it at least 40.

Everyone here knows a guy who's brother's friend's cousin'S step brother ran a N1 oil pump and it failed so everyone says they suck. Thought it was strange that they would run it on this set up.

Also if I had a dollar for everyone who said N1 turbo's cant make over 400whp Id have 3 more GTR's in my driveway, these guys are making 536whp - not even close to the first time Iv seen over 500whp with N1's.

N1's running low 10 second quarters (ON STREET TIRES)- thats fast ! pb of 10.2 sec. @137MPH

This car kicks complete ass with the setup they are running, they seem to dominate most events and are setting all kinds of records as they go. If you have never heard of Mark Berry or High Octane racing you need to spend more time researching fast GTR's and how they are set up.

    Enjoy the video guys

    Cheers

N1 pumps are basically factory pumps, but some people misunderstand what they are, and treat them as upgraded pumps.

Nice car from Hi Octane, 1.7kg of boost on N1 turbos is pretty impressive.

Yea that is alot of boost, one thing I loved about living in Oz was being able to get 98 octane at the pump. Think we need that here in Canada.

Daryl arent N1 pumps larger inside diameter and larger volume/output then a OEM ? I found a picture of a N1 pump and a OEM pump side by side and split in half to see the internals and it looked noticably bigger. I do not have the experience you do though but it looked larger to me and I thought I had read they are higher displacement but I may be mistaken.

Either way for them to run the N1 oil pump on their race car they must be confident that it will do the job and do it well

The gear is a bit different as it is geared for optimization at higher rpms (but below factory redline)
It does not necessarily flow more oil, and is often mistaken as a high rpm pump, which is why we get people blowing them up at 9000rpm and then they say N1 pumps suck. They are only rated the same as the factory pump.

What is the advantage of the N1 pump over the stock one then?

the N1 oil pump isn't even similar inside to a stock oil pump aside from the fact that they both look like they are designed to pump a fluid. They certainly aren't "basically a stock pump".

The only 94 we get is Sunoco ( and not for long) and its quality bounces more than pam Andersons tired old rack .

If you compare a stock pump to a N1 pump to a Tomei pump, the N1 would be closer to the stock than the Tomei. N1 pumps do pump more oil than a stock pump, but not in the same league as a Tomei. The N1 and stock pump gears are the same or almost the same sizes, however the N1 does have bigger cavities.
IMO the N1 is closer to stock than the Tomei/Jun/HKS pumps.

Stock pump is top, N1 is bottom:

One of the major mistakes people make is between the N1 pump and the Nismo pump. They are 2 different pumps, N1=around $300 and Nismo= around $1000, the Nismo is also made of a different quality of metal, SCM430H I believe.

The N1 is only rated up to the factory redline, whereas aftermarket pumps are rated for more. This is where the problems begin because some people either mistakenly believe the N1 is rated for higher rpms, or they mistake it with the Nismo, hence blown up N1 pumps at 9,000rpms. N1 pumps are generally rated up to 500hp.

Aftermarket pumps generally pump a lot more oil, making it necessary to upgrade the sump, larger oil pan and oil restrictors. The N1 does not pump as much oil making these upgrades unnecessary.

Another rumour is that there were fake N1 pumps being sold on eBay which led to failures.

Here are some stats I grabbed from another website, take it with a grain of salt as I am not sure where the info came from:

                    1) STOCK pump: 47L/min
                    2) NISMO Oil Pump, at 6000RPM 47L/min *SCM430H Gear
                    3) NITTO Oil Pump, at 7000RPM 64.8L (6k RPM est 55.5L/min) * Australia made
                    4) TOMEI Oil Pump, at 6000RPM 56L/min
                    5) JUN Oil Pump, at 6000RPM 58.9L/min
                    6) HKS Oil Pump, at 6000RPM 65L/min
                    7) REIMAX Oil Pump, at 6000RPM 70L/min * Previously crafted oil pumps for GREDDY

In closing you could rated the N1 pump as a middle-of-the-class pump, with the stock pump below it, and the aftermarket pumps above it.

I noticed Nismo don't raise rev limiters, even on Ztune.

                        That R32GTR ran a 59.666sec at Tsukuba :-

                        Part 1 -

                        Part 2 -

                        Part 3 (on racetrack) -

High Octane now have a R34GTR with drysump, etc -

High Octane sell the same dry sump kit as used on above R34GTR. It's the only proper way to solve the oil related problems on high hp RB engines -

What's interesting is aircon doesn't need to be removed with above dry sump kit, which makes it perfect for a road / racetrack spec GTR.

well the tomei is capable of working at higher rpms without fear of it breaking...

i think the tomei is good for upto 9000rpm(tested to 10k rpm) where as the hks and jun are only safe upto 8000rpm
