Subaru's sound amazing, STI runs from the Swedish police [video]

I have a big hard on for Subaru boxer engines. What can I say? I know a few people here feel the same way, so I've taken the liberty of linking these fine videos. The first video is a bit slow with some good stuff, but the second two are quite good, in a "recklessly running from the police at high speeds" sort of way.

If anyone is wondering, this segment is from one of the "ghost rider" DVD's. Usually, the guy is on a bike, but decided to do a car for this one, as they were getting **** from their equally reckless opponents, the Getaway in Stockholm group.

Why people mount cameras to motorized vehicles and record themselves running from the police is beyond me, but it's kind of fun to watch :P

as someone who write's for a living, i do my best to igno're writing properly outside of work. spellchecking, gram'mar checking, and the p'roper use of apostrophe's is a pain in the a's's, so why bother :P

Theres an obscure law in Sweden. Basically, the police have to be able to ID the driver of a car. If you're in your super fast porsche and the police try to pull you over, and you run and escape, they have to be have seen you in the car. Otherwise, they can't prove it was you driving, even if it is your car. The cars that they use in the Getaway in Stockholm series are not their own cars, but rather cars they have borrowed from fans of the series. Each year, the cars get more exotic, and more expensive. I assume this is because their fanbase is always increasing, and will sooner or later have a few people who own lambo's and ferraris.

I'm sure the owners of the cars get a knock at the door the day after the thing is filmed, but the police legally can not do anything about it. "Where was your car last night?", "I'm not sure, officer, why do you ask?". They don't even have to cover or remove the license plates for the filming.

If they saw the person driving, and it was not the owner of the car, they can't punish the owner at all. Even if the car was loaned to the person driving it with the knowledge that it would be used for a getaway in stockholm movie. The owner also doesn't have to say who was driving it. They can just play dumb.

To be quite honest, with all the getaway style films being made in Sweden, you'd think they would have changed that law a long time ago. The getaway in stockholm guys have been lucky, in 10 years they haven't crashed or killed anyone. Who knows how many more of these things they'll make.

I still say getaway in stockholm 1, 2, 3 and 5 are the best. After those ones, they started getting a bit stylized with cameras, placing them low to the ground to increase the sensation of speed, but also reducing what you can actually see as they're driving along. #3 was great if you love the sound of what appears to be a bone stock NSX. The full DVD has the entire run inside the car, ala best motoring style camera placement. The sound! It's orgasmic!
