I think you should buy a K-car and then find a wrecked VW Bug, pull the drive train out and stick it in the K-Car. Then see if you can get on Pimp My Sh!tty A$$ Car and that Rapper dude and his friends can turn it into some kinda freak show. Then you can pull into the local Revscene at the local Timmies and say "Yo beyotches check out my sick whip! That mofo rapper dude sure knows a thing or two about blinging out cars"

Just picture it...Rear engine, rear drive K-car with 24" diamond studded wheels, sporting some candy metallic paint and some whacked out interior........

If you want reliability + cheap on gas, why not consider a 92-95 honda civic coupe or HB?

They are dime a dozen and if it breaks its way cheaper than anything else out there..

Just a thought.. (your insurance will be cheap too)

        I've given this more thought.

Here are the three likeliest candidates:

        1. S-chassis. Probably a 240sx, N/A.
        2. 300ZX Z32, N/A.
        3. Subaru of some sort. It'd be great for winters and back roads.

If I get rid of the T/A, I'll get something cheap. 240sx or 97-ish Legacy sedan. I'd love a 2.5RS, but those are still in the 4k and up range.

Here's an idea of what I get with the Vette. Around town, 8-13mpg and highway 19-23. It's powered by a 5.7L 350cid V8 with headwork, full exhaust, headers, and a mild cam. Full fill up costs about 80 bucks.

        More CL scouring it is.

I think I get get used to the sound of a turbo spooling and BOV.

I can't believe I'm considering a turbo Skyline as an economical choice..but hey, from 8mpg to 16 city is an improvement..

GTS-t is a good daily driver IMO, fast enough to spank your average mustang gt (not the newer gen however), but can be nice and tame to just cruise around and get from point a to b.

                Or even a gts-4?

That is a very good looking car.
That was one of the first Japanese cars that I liked, mind you my favorite one was blue with yellow decals and kicking up dirt, snow and tarmac while doing 160kph on a mountain road!!!

Again, if I can manage to sell off the T/A, I might just have enough for a cheap near-stock GTS-t OR a 2.5 RS that needs a bit of work. Im a little worried about the Subaru's gas consumption though. I know the Legacys get decent gas mileage, but I don't know about the more performance oriented 2.5 RS.

To bad thats the facelift model..
These are what we can import, we cant get those until the year when 97's are legal.

However they do look good with a chargespeed body kit, facelift headlights, corners, hood, and grille. But with what the OP wants to spend, I dont think it would be do-able with the above items.

The market for gts's is slow right now, pick one up cheap, take care of it, then sell it when you get bored of it.

Not really a huge issue for me. I have my Vette for performance and I just need something like a 2.5 RS for daily use and a little fun. Won't have enough for a decent GC8. 2.5 RS that needs a little work is already pushing my budget.
