This thread is filled with win. JZ has even joined the good fight.

When Rabbit proclaimed in the other thread that Steve could have been the one to mess up downtown, he was merely foreshadowing this winter.

Steve you say you bought the car as a cheap winter beater? You could have bought a beat up old Civic for half the price; spent half the money on gas; spent half the money on insurance; worked on the car yourself (have you looked under the hood of that car?); had FWD for winter (which is a big time bonus in snow. RWD FTL) and much more.

But you're right; the added coolness of a RHD Nissan that looks fast outweighs all the cons of your terrible decision.

I agree a car should be driven and enjoyed. I agree it should not be put on a pedestal and left as an ornament. However I disagree in risking your safety (I know, shocked myself as well) and the safety of others for some odd need to feel spiritually connected with what your car would really want should it have feelings.

All this talk about RHD ban, but is it or is it not RHD? I am at work and I dont see pictures, but Shadao clearly said "good thing its not RHD" earlier in the thread.

If its actually LHD, all this ranting is pointless, because if he crashes it would show that's its not RHD's fault. So you guys should be cheering for him to crash instead! j/k

Picking a RWD RHD as a winter beater is like picking Charles Manson to babysit

Good to know everyone thinks I can't control a car for ****. Cause you know, I've posted about so many crashes I've been in.

Sounds to me like everyone seems to think it's just stupid to drive a RWD car in the winter time, yet how many people drive Mustangs?

As for RHD, how many mailmen deliver mail all day long in mail trucks in the winter??

Plus they're RWD. They may not make 222HP but 222HP is hardly something to brag about.

Sounds like everyone here just "assumes" I'm a bad driver.

funny that you mention mail turcks in winter... a couple winters ago i was working as a courier using a full sized van... it was VERY easy to spin out of control with studded tires... a 300zx is not a winter beater... its a sports car, and sports cars do not belong on the roads during winter... no one has said you're a bad driver... we just know that A: you're young B: that means you have less experience behind the wheel C: winter and RWD sports cars dont mix.... the odds are against you, and the stats show that you are highly likley to crash this winter...

there is nothing wrong with driving a RWD vehicle in winter... but your car isnt exactly winter friendly... have you ever driven a rwd sports car during winter? how may corvettes do you see? supras etc etc etc... mustangs dont exactly count... there are 4cyl and 6cyl mustangs... but even then lower power ones are not ideal for winter driving.... i drove a 4cyl rustang for 2 winters... at least once a month i would lose traction, often ending up in a ditch or someones yard.... all while driving 40-60kmh in a 60kmh zone... i have over 10yrs of driving experience and my road star and it still happens to me...

i see more RWD and AWD vehicles off the road during winter more than any other type of vehicle.... its just how it happens.... if you drive all winter long and reamin accident free, i will appluad but until then i will consider the facts and the stats and wait for someething to happen... it doesnt have to be serious even sliding into a curb counts...
How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

I don't think anyone is making slight against your driving or saying you will crash. The title of your thread is "My Winter Beater". I'm not saying that you cant drive one of these cars properly in the winter, or that you are inexperienced behind the wheel. What I am saying is to purchase a Fairlady Z as a winter beater (what your thread states) is dumb.

Haha, a 5L mustang with BFG G-force tires all around was my winter car 2 winters in a row. Taught me lots about the importance of traction. That's why my next porject vehicle is possibly another rwd.

Either way, this time, I'll have some expensive tires on it for winter, not summer in winter

I drove my s13 in the winter a bit. I had traction problems but if you do the right speed and be a careful driver you will be fine. Im sure a s13 in the winter is worse then a 300ZX for weight. Just drive careful and you will be fine

The S13 has better balance and less power. It's also got narrower tires so normally that would mean the 300zx is worse. Then again, it's like R33 whale so you wouldn't damage much
