Bah, I forgot about the budget.

I like interesting cars, how about a used xB or Element. The extra space is handy for hauling **** as well as carry snowboards.

I just picked up brand new front rotors and pads for both corners from Lordco and the total was less than $60. Fill up on regular gas is less than $30 and I get 400 K to the tank mostly city driving. I have an exhaust leak, and a sub in the hatch so I could be getting better milage, but it doesn't bother me.
This is my life right now! haha mines a suzuki, and other than being rusted to **** it drives strong every day. This will easily be your cheapest option at a winter car, you'll look extremely uncool but who gives a ****, winter driving is all about saving as much money as you can to spend on your summer whip!

Bought a 1990 240sx SE for a winter beater but it's got the worst heater in the world (useless below -25 and it's -40 or so now.) so it's been parked for the last month. We're using the Murano now cause it's got all the fancy stuff I like for winter (heated seats/wheel, AWD) but it's got way too muhc understeer/torquesteer so it not easy to have fun in. Got the 2011 for 23k (couldn't say no to that!) fully loaded (It's the 2nd from the top cause I didn't care for 20inch gangsta rims). Had 117km on it lol.

When I'm buying a DD, I think: Reliability>Safety>Styling>gas milage>cost. I never worry, even on a 4000km road trip, unlike old cars.

some good options here. I'm still thinking civic... and I won't roll in a $500 **** box. how am I supposed to impress the ladies ben? I want to keep it newer (although not a *new* car), and around 3k. So far I've found everything from mid 90's Volvos, to Integras, Civics, VW's etc. TRYING to stay away from Hondas due to the insurance costs being higher but they are the logical choice.

i think some are mis understanding a *daily* car as a beater car. Not looking for a 300,000kms rust bucket that may just run great but looks like poop. Gotta roll in some style. I'm checking a few cars out after work today.

                          hondas are sooooo boring.

2.5 RS? DSM? BMW 3 or 5 series?

Ive been rockin a 85 Chevy 3/4 ton for the past 5 months here in Vancouver. haha. I built a hydrogen cell and use that to take care of the shitty gas millage and I can now even park in the hybrid parking stalls :P

Tho, just this morning I won a auction on the new daily. Its more less for my lady but im driving it often enough to enjoy it too. Its a 96 Honda Integra B18 5 speed sunroof 2 dr and with the nice headlights (not the fugly round ones). I had a DA6 back in 2007 and Id take it from edmonton all the way to lethbridge and stilll drive around for a day if i took it easy. Roughly 550km a tank and im guessing 45 L from dead empty. I liked it so this is a nice upgrade from the DA. Cost is roughly 5K adn prob need to buy a few things for it to get it on the rd and plated.

Hondas in general are great for dd's. Look not bacd, they drift like a pro in the winter, cheap and easy to fix and throw a 12" sub in the back and they pound in any hatch.

Ya for me the DD is more so I can work on the Miata when I need to and not have to worry about having to drive to work the next day. Since it is turning into a full fledged track rat it's time to get something normal for day to day use.
