If you're left-leaning & want to help block a Harper majority, www.projectdemocracy.ca is a good site that compares the last election results for your riding, to show which party has the best chance to beat your local unfriendly conservative MP.
Unfortunately none of the parties are particularly geared towards the younger generations, since we have the lowest rate of voter turnout it's easy for parties to neglect us. It's also kinda hard to judge by election platforms, since all parties are notorious for not following through completely (not necessarily by any fault -- it's just hard to predict what you'll be able to do until you get into power & see all the numbers you have to work with, etc). This election will be particularly difficult for the next party in power since the Cons have been hiding their costs for various things (jets, the jails, the crime bills,) so we may very well be deeper in debt than they will even admit. Hell, the cons were on record claiming "no deficit" when they were already $1.1B in debt, so they are not really sure of their numbers at the best of times, either.
The best way to judge a party is by looking at it's track record & the bills it supports. www.howdtheyvote.ca is a good site that shows the various bills brought before the House of Commons by the different parties (and which ones your local MP voted for/against). I look at these since they've already happened & are very revealing as to the parties' true intentions. If you have any areas or topics that you're concerned about in general, I can give you a more specific answer... there's so much to cover it's hard to focus sometimes, haha.
I am pretty big on human rights, liberties, progressive & research-based approaches to govt so there are pieces of policy from the Liberals, NDP & Green that I support. But this election goes beyond personal preference, I'm just looking for the greater good for Canada -- and blocking a Harper majority is the #1 priority for me!
