Think I could get out of this ticket

I also want to mention, is that the cop asked me how fast I was going, and I was like, uhhhm I'm not too sure, and hes like well you you were going way too fast. He NEVER once told me the speed I was actually going, he claimed I was going over and that he could give me an excessive speeding ticket, but he never once during the whole incident did he say what exact speed he radared me at.

Your ticket should say how fast you were going, speed limit, code infraction, location, yours and his info. If its missing anything your laughing. It should also say how he caught your speed ie. radar or estimate. The only way they can reliably estimate your speed is to be behind you, then they accelerate on your ass until the space between your rear bumper and their front bumper is constant, therefore your both going the same speed. You really have nothing to lose by fighting it. Go to traffic court and talk to the crown attorney or justice of peace about having it dropped or at the very least reduced.Last edited by TheyKilledKenny; 07-20-2011, 03:44 AM.Regards,

They do not have to disclose how they obtained the speed, laser or pacing. Radar guns aren't used much anymore, laser is more accurate. Chances are the cop observed you speeding and made an assumption. He didn't give you excessive, just a set amount over the limit, correct? If that's the case takenit to court ad ask for a trial. It all comes down to the officers evidence, and of he/she did not list things like your build, hair colour, race, ect it will be thrown out. Good chance he didn't write evidence and it will be withdrawn.R33 GTST RB25DET series 1

look at it this way your in bc so if you do dispute it which you should you wont get a court date for 10-12 months. so depending on how long youve had your n you might have your class 5 by the time your court date even comes around. the downside is however since it is a speeding ticket if the cop does show up in court your going to get 3 points no matter what basically. so dispute it and hope he doesnt show. even if he does your atleast buying yourself some time1991 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R: 710whp 521 ft/lbs 27.5psi 11.8 @126mph low boost

Not trying to sound like a **** here but.........Most police will ask you how fast your were going then tell you, if they had you on radar. Radar is still used a lot. They are VERY accurate. Check out www.decaturradar.com I will say that the laser is way better at pin pointing. In this case it doesn't sound like he got you on radar or laser. He might have heard you coming while doing reports or bored/napping lol. Fighting it is the only way to make it better.
Good luck.

Lol, poor kid! I got pulled over doing 156 in my focus trying to get to work before I was late. Cop was hid in the median and got me with laser. BUT he just told me to take it slow and have a good day at work! Must have got his skin or something before he went out on patrol haha
And... What's the N thing about? Out here it's your "beginners" licence for 12
Months the. You get a class 5. Is the N the same type of thing?Come on lotto!!! Daddy needs a whole lotta stuff!

More than likely he didn't radar you and he gave you a generic ticket based on his estimation/asumption of the speed you were going.
As much as they have the right to do this, at least where I live, it's easy to get thrown out since it's wayyyy subjective.
When the police officer asks you "what speed were you going" this is when you say "about 10 over"...if you say I don't know then it gives him more pull to say you were actually speeding, based on his experience and the fact you didn't know.
As much as honesty goes a long way, when it comes to dealing with law enforcement all they want is for you to incriminate yourself. Trust me, I work in law enforcement.R32 GTR FULL SERVICE MANUAL DOWNLOAD:

I agree with gtrjon.
At the very least dispute it. I got a ticket a year ago for turning (in a minivan) at a small residential intersection when I wasn't supposed to (not allowed to turn between 3pm - 6pm). Filed dispute, 10 months later i go to court, cop withdrew ticket because he lost his ticket log book.
In the same court day there was a girl who got caught driving with no insurance, old guy who didn't even understand why he got a speeding ticket, and a 19 year old who was speeding +40km.....all their tickets got withdrawn. Worth the shot at least.BB(Turbo) will spin like "24" spinnaz yo!"

regardless you got a ticket. you should have asked for proof that he had you on radar. they can show you. otherwise he was just trying to scare you.
fight the ticket. buy yourself some time. worst case you end up paying the ticket 1.5 years later and the points stay off until you lose at that same time.I love the thing and its worth it every time I start it. As soon as it stops make me smile ill get rid of it (not gonna happen)
