You sure your not looking at a WRX and not a sti or a swapped car? Quick check in the gta shows no 2004 sti's under 22 grand.

04's can be had for that. Ive contacted an owner for one for $16.5K but the drive is way to far for me to go view it in person so its on hold.

I dunno where you guys are seeing a recent bodystyle sti for 16ish. 22 is more of the range for the mid 2000's

I'm gonna jump on the sti lovers bandwagon. You could likely pick up an evo 8 out of the states in the price range as well though. Either would be a good fun dd, gotta say the sti would probably break less though.

24 years old (with 6 years primary driver and own policy in Canada). 1 accident, 1 failure to yield and two speeding (all about 2-3 years ago). I have not paid less than $300 a month for a very very long time. It sucks.

wow that sucks. my 3 vehicles combined don't total that. i don't know if they do an "under 25" rate in the USA though

If you ask me I'd stay away from Audis. They are very expensive to fix, and not at all reliable. They rate well in initial quality, but after a few years of normal use the interior is very obviously degraded. If you want to fix anything yourself prepare for hours of banging your head against a wall and several trips to Part Source to buy special tools.

Pretty well every Audi I've had the displeasure of working on has been a lemon. An A6 wagon is on it's 3rd transmission, on top of needing axles and ball joints after 90,000kms. An A4 Quattro has had all sorts of electrical glitches and sensors going bad, which ultimately lead to the destruction of the catalytic converter (which BTW cost around $1500). An A8 Quattro also had electrical glitches up the ying-yang, and right now there is an A3 S-line in the lot which had a the turbo replaced (which is all one piece with the manifold) not 9000km ago, and then one of the idle pulleys on the timing belt went at exactly 120,000km (the timing belt is due at 120,000km under severe conditions) and it munched the valves.

So yeah, from my experience with Audis... stay away!

I'd definitely go for an STI, or if you aren't afraid of the whole "Honda" thing, those Civic SiRs are very fun for a FWD. You could also look for a Celica AllTrac ST185, they're pretty hard to find with lower Kms but they are very fun in winter!

I had some pretty bad ones but since I haven't driven in 3 years they are all wiped clean. And because I am 25 the insurance rates are laughable compared to the 500$/month I used to pay

when moving out of Korea and leaving my 700bhp R32 behind, I thought long and hard about what car could possibly be as interesting, yet be very different (i.e. not buying an Evo), practical, and highly winter-capable. The winner: Audi RS6. With an ECU reflash, you gain 75bhp...but that's not where the story lies...it's in the 100+lb/ft torque gained. The thing is a sledgehammer, yet my mother can drive it. And it has 8-pot monobloc Brembo brakes...stock. I've been loving my RS6 big time, but I still do want my Skyline parked next to it!!

Insurance for a guy under 25 with my driving record is not ideal to say the least.
