looking to see if anyone knows there Vancouver City By-Laws concerning an issue I am having...
thx !
this is an email I sent to the VPD,, I received a note from another owner concerning my car setting of car alarms.
I live in a 4 level condominium building. There are 2 vehicles in the parkade that have loud exhausts (one of which I own). I replaced my entire exhaust system about 6 months ago because it used to set off 2 car alarms, one vehicle 2 spots away from me and the other about across the parkade. With my new exhaust it probably sets the one vehicle near me once every two weeks, if that. I leave for work every morning at 07:30 and when the vehicle’s alarm goes off, it’s on for about 30 seconds and it stops.
I will be looking at solutions to resolve this issue. (silencer, offering to adjust the owners alarms sensitivity, etc…)
I am wondering though, if I am breaking any City bylaws or is it the responsibility of owner of the sensitive alarm that is in the wrong. In my eyes there are 2 vehicles that set off alarms in the underground, not to mention the trains that run along side our building that also set off alarms.
P.S. I will be addressing this issue with our Strata council but I wish to seek advice on how the Vancouver Police would handle this..
