Which truck would you buy?

Truck owners are as bad as soccer fans
Our ships truck is a '10 3500 series GMC with a 5.3 and although it works well it feels outdated and we keep having minor electrical problems with it. I do like the drivetrain though.
A '68 C10 with an LS-X, bagged would be the best hauler EVER.

I'm DIE-HARD wouldn't trade my Chevy for the anything other than a '67-'71 C10... New trucks are nice but whats the old saying? "I'd rather push a Chevy than drive a Ford"

Well I'll be picking up my new, black Ford F-150 XLT Supercrew on Thursday. I'll really miss my Subaru Legacy but it just won't tow.

Secretely i drive an econoline most of the time, work van/gas card wins lol. My truck is just a pleasure vehicle. My car does nothing but collect dust and once the Ford dies i will most likely end up in a Mercedes Sprinter. Those are hands down the best work vans ever...

I've heard nothing but good things about the sprinter. It'd be amazing to have that long enough to fit a car in the back.

Just seen a 2013 f-150 hit a moose. Def would not buy one just from the damage. The engine ended up in the front seat, hood hinges busted and the hood went about 12" into the cab thru the pillars!

I'm sure if another truck hit a moose it would be similar damage.... But that ford looked like it was made of pure plastic.

Driver was ok btw. Broken leg and gashes from broken glass.

Stay away from a 6.0 L powerstroke (trust me i have one)

Duramaxs are great i owned 2. If your planning on modding it the Allison Tranny cant take more than around 100 hp extra, it will slip and go into limp mode.

6.4 powerstrokes are good they had High pressure oil pump failure at High HP levels. They make Huge power off custom tunes and the tranny's are bullit proof. Solid trucks all around

Cummins are dogs, stay away from 03, 05 common rails, they were made to explode. The 6.7 is a good motor, they run hot but meth cools them down. The front ends on 3/4 tons and 1 tons suck, plain and simple. Ball joints are terrible.

Regardless on what you get there are simple rules to diesels.
1: Remove Emissions stuff. DPF's rob hp and kill turbos. EGR's are crap and rob fuel mileage. Turbo back exhausts and EGR deletes.
2: Use decent Oils
3: Tune them, Newer Diesels are all tuned to pass emissions, Buy a tuner that is good for each truck, every motor reacts different to tuners, off the shelf programmers like edge and bullydog and banks are crap. Get a good tuner Duramaxs: PPE, EFI Live
Cummins: Smarty H&S
PowerStrokes:SCT H&S

Diesels can be great, you can get excellent fuel mileage and make big power. Just be careful and treat it with respect. I own one of the most unreliable diesels in the world and havent had a problem with it. Mod it accordingly and take care of it, it will be great to you.

I picked up my new truck Thursday. I'll say it again that buyin A truck is the worst because brand loyalty with owners is so diehard.
The purchase ended up being based primarily on (and in no particular order) value and how the vehicle felt, how the dealership treated me and research. There was certainly consideration given to what owners had to say aswell.
The MSRP price range was $44-$48K and all 2013s.
4th place was the Nissan Titan. I really liked the truck but fell short on value and the brakes are crap.
3rd place GM 1500 series. Fell short on value and interior esthetics was very poor.
2nd place Ram 1500. Fell short on same issues as the GM but not as bad and limited product availability.
1st place F-150. Superior treatment from McPhee Ford where I purchased from and very good service from Steele Ford as well. The Ford felt excellent in all regards with respect to driving, offered the best value and honestly the best interior and option value.
The numbers can't be disputed with regard to performance, the only thing I miss is the v8 sound. The EcoBoost is silent.
Feel free to flame but my decision was made without prejudice or brand loyalty (although I originally wanted a Ram) and logic.

I had the same outcome last year when I bought an ecoboost fx4 but its not good on gas (like people think) so I'm trading it in on a dodge 1/2 ton v6 diesel turbo next year I hope (if it releases as planned). Probably wont even get 1/2 what I paid lmao.......

I don't find it bad on gas but I guess it's all about what you're used too. Besides if you're buying a truck for fuel economy you're doing it wrong. The EcoBoost makes big power and you can't make power without burning fuel.

Big power... 420 tq and something 360hp. Compared to a cummins 800tq for $15k more and better mileage. But yeah I didn't buy it for the mileage, I just don't like spending $80 a week on gas when my poobaru was 30 lol

Yea I had a Legacy 3.0R before but at this point I'm not sure Ill see a big difference in fuel cost. I will miss that car.
I would LOVE to have a big red headed Cummins. I love the noise and the torque. Couldn't justify the significant extra cost.

I'd buy a 10-15 year old diesel F250 or 350 (or excursion) and save the rest of the money for entry fees and tires.
