When I'm calling a insurane company for a quote, do I say I'm insured allready under my parents policy? Or no... Or would they already know... My mom said if I buy a Gtr I have to put it in my name and I have to get my own insurance. But can one car be insured under one company and my Gtr be under a different?

    Thx

I once got side swiped on the highway (not RHD though), and when I did the estimate to have it repaired it was like 800 bucks (front fender damage only).

I knew I could fix it myself with little effort, so I negotiated with the insurance company and got them to pay me 500$. I then proceeded to fix it myself for the mere cost of 1h of my time + 20$ in supplies. So I actually made money from that accident, and since it wasn't my fault I didn't get any premium increases, plus it wasn't considered as a claim on record since it was a side transaction (other insurance companies will never know unless I tell them).

Insurance companies can and will negotiate to save some cash. If they are going to write off your car because of a so called 900$ bumper (which I still dont see how this would benefit them), just deal with them, get them to pay you 600$, buy a bumper, change it yourself in 15 minutes and pocket the rest.

This cant be right. I was bumped by another douche and I filed a claim. It was entirely his fault. The damage was dents and scratches on the JDM passenger side front quarter panel but ofcourse I wanted it fixed. I bought a quarter panel on this forum and gave it to a body shop. They PAID ME double for it. How the eff does that work???

That thousand they make a year from each car doesnt come close to the 15k they have to pay out when your skyline gets bumped into and the owner files a claim.

You know what I don't get is when you are a long time client and have your cars and house etc. with the company and then when you want to get RHD drive insurance they piss themselves. Like I want to give you my money why wont you take it? Pisses me off.

After trying for so long to get full coverage so I can finance from RightDrive, I think its safe to say that I give up lol. Sure a lot of places will take the car, but no one has any decent quotes when you're 18-25 and live in the GTA. It is all $500 + a month.

I laugh at people over here on the Qc side that say it's cheaper to live in Ottawa...sure you pay less taxes on your revenue, but you pay it all back on car insurance and mortgages. Plus with the HST now, everything is more expensive.

not with RHDs lol. If youre driving your grandma's old '87 Plymouth reliant wagon, heck yes.

its hard enough finding someone to take these cars on for less than your life savings, let alone get petty discounts (those school discounts are like 5% annually)

I know this is kinda random but I heard you get discounts for good grades in post secondary education. Can anyone confirm?
