Abstract:
"Sorry I do not have good news today – the senior underwriters have advised that we would not be able to insure this car for you. Right hand drive vehicles that are under 25 years of age are no longer being considered under our collector plan"
"Unfortunately it will not – as I mentioned there have been a few claims that have sadly spoiled this for the many that enjoy these vehicles"
If you already have a policy with them then you okay i guess. Or it's just a matter of time before they start cancelling existing policies.
Looks like facility is the only way. Today's a sad day.
I've had a policy with them since 2006, picking up the phone right fawking now.
Rick
EDIT*** Just got off the phone with them. They will NOT be cancelling existing policies.
Also, they will still write new policies, however they are being extremely strict with the condition of the vehicle, and its use.
IE - They will NOT insure some dumpy $2000 Skyline as they will consider it a daily driver or at the least, not a "collector" vehicle.
I kinda don't blame them now that I've spoken with them, and it has nothing really to do with the vehicle being RHD, this is a COLLECTOR/SHOW car policy.
NOT a backup because someone can't get coverage anywhere else. It just seems that many people with these cars are doing that.
What a Fawkin suprise.....thanks dumbasses.

From what I understand, as a collector car policy holder (not related to my work), some people have really screwed up the system of collector car insurance due to severe abuse of the rules.
From what I understand, there have been kids buying cars, insuring under their parents name, then daily driving them. Then crashing them and expecting a full payout. A complete violation of everything the collector car policy stands for.
As an abiding collector car policy holder, it enrages me that there are such stupid kids out there, who feel that pulling stunts like this is acceptable, and ruining it for everyone else.
At a time when insurance for RHD vehicles is under such scrutiny, it is absolutely terrible that violations such as these are happening.
I hope the violators get charged with insurance fraud, and have their cars written off with no payout.
From what I understand, Lant is longer handing out policies for RHD vehicles as they used to, and things will be changing. Hopefully they will revise the application process, and weed out all the idiots who feel that breaking the rules is acceptable.Last edited by Daryl @ RightDrive; 04-17-2013, 12:28 PM.RightDrive Inc. I don't qualify for Lant. Won't quality for a few years.
In the meanwhile, I'm paying quite a bit with Facility to enjoy my car.
Unfortunately by the time I have 10+ year driving experience it seems there won't be any other options for me.1989 R32 GTS-t (Sold)

1000% agreed.
Daily or not, occassional or not, nobody under the policy age restriction is supposed to even drive the vehicle.
If someone IS over the age and needs mommy and daddy to get insurance, take the ******* bus.'89 GTST - SOLD

Shitty situation for us RHD'ers..but yea I agree with Daryl that the system needs to get rid of all these idiots with a strict policy and then HOPEFULLY get back to the 15 years...Last edited by Kunzz; 04-17-2013, 03:02 PM.97' R33 GT-R Vspec
