When I had my MKIII Supra, I got it from Alberta.

Some smart ass over there decided that since there was no need for the front license plate, that instead of taking the time to take out the screws that were in the front license plate holes...

...he'd simply save a minute and cut the tops off of them.

I didn't notice this, and I tried to drill them out but to no avail.

I simply carried the front license plate around with me and the odd time I was pulled over I just explained the situation.

The police had no problem with it.

They didn't even make me put it up on my dash.

That's not to say you can get away with it.

If you have no excuse, and they pull you over, expect a ticket.

The chances that they will pull you over SOLELY for not having the front plate on are fairly slim seeing as our neighbours don't require them.

Last time my friend got pulled over and got a ticket from the police because with no front plate. The cop was nice though, he kindly told us that put the plate on and snap some photos of and send it to him, he will cancel the ticket. btw this is in vancouver downtown.

I havent had a front plate on any of my cars since i i learned to drive.. Cars look cleaner with no front plate..

7 years of driving later.. still no tickets.. never been pulled over for it..
and i have lived, and been all over the lowermain land and island..
Driven skylines, to Hyundi's. to Beamers.
while it might be a rule.. i dont worry about it..

A buddy of mine got a speeding ticket in his GTS4 and to cop was brutal and nailed him on the no front plate too $85. I leave mine in the backseat so i can place in windshield when needed. Also bull S*it is your friend and most cops will buy a good story about how you need a bracket case you don't want to ruin the body kit

I have been pulled over before in my old ghetto 300ZX because I had no plate on the front,it is a $87 ticket.I have also had the local filth issue me a provincial inspection at a road block because the #$%@head cop couldn't see the plate on the lower spoiler when he was looking straight down on the hood.I told him to look from the front of the car and he would see the plate...then he told me to get in the car.I think Vancouver would be less of an issue than Victoria though.

spotted a cop walking around my car today at work,,,
he was running my plate...
I walked out and asked " ...is there a problem officer ?"

he said nope,,, was just admiring your car...
...spent about another 15 minutes b.s.'ing with him..,

...and left off with... oh btw,,, you should put your front plate on... it's $109.00 ticket..

I got a warning ticket on my Porsche second day I had it. No front plate. Had my kids in the car and my one of my daughters started to cry and the cop felt really bad. He had passed me and actually turned on the lights and siren and did a U-Turn to pull me over. So ya it is illegal but totally up to the cop to do as they wish.

Got a notice of action for no front plate literally 2 days after getting the car. Got pulled over 2 more times that same month for other bulls*it.

got a written order for it once and kept a plate on ever since.

It's just not worth the potential of the hassle.
