well not just defects but things like shiny rims, body kits, big loud exhaust and such. Also in those couple days that they were out they only pulled over 120 vehicles which means they are going to nuts. As for the guy with the Lhd audi, the reason he got pulled in was because he didnt have a license plate on the front so that drew attention to them. He however did fail for no shift pattern on his aftermarket shift knob, illegal tint, and no front rebar. With those infractions he did NOT get towed away. He just has has to go for a reinspection. You will only get towed away if you vehicle is too low as they see if not having proper working suspension and deem in unsafe.

Well, In my opinion, this isn't a bad thing, it says they are targeting vehicles with "Visible defects" This means old trucks and vans falling apart, Cars with dragging exhausts etc.

Yes they could see a rhd and say that looks like it has a visible defect but from the way this article sounds I wouldn't be so worried.

"Police inspect 120 vehicles, find problems with 98%" haha this is bs because according to mpi if you dont have a shift pattern your car gets towed (yes they've already done it to a lhd Audi). And driving around with a bend in your license plate also causes a car to be unsafe and ticketable (yes again iv seen a built t67 z32 get a $300 ticket and 3 demerits for this!!) it all really come down to the fact that Winnipeg is the poor retarded ugly step child that Canada never really wanted and figures it's more important to keep it's citizens from have a sports car on the road than it is to be arresting these little fuckers that break into the car in my area on a weekly basis. But what's even worse u ask? I got a vi in my old beater neon with every single panel kicked and the driver side rear tire running like +35%camber from smoking a curb e-braking and u wanna know what my car was unsafe for according to them? I was using a factory batter tie down and that wasn't acceptable In they're books. Now does anyone else see anything wrong with that situation?(and yes they did see the crazy camber and told me it's fine :s)

In the MVI pdf it states that all lighting must meet CMVSS, DOT or SAE doesn't say they have to be, only meet. Just checked and the Daniel Stern report is $550 USD and accepts PayPal. Who's interested in pooling cash and taking this to MPIC?
I have also started working on a fix for the R32 headlight issue that will make us happy, pm for details.

Didn't read all of it. but from what I did read there was not one thing pertaining to DOT

Exhaust had nothing about the requirement of a baffled muffler or cat converter. Specifications clearly state all it needs to do is not enter the passenger area and come out at the back of the car in a non vertical fashion.

Further more on the headlight rule, headlights can be maximum 54 inches off the groud...thats only 130+ cm i'm pretty sure a lot of the lifted trucks are above that mark!

This might be worth printing out and keeping in the car.
