  • First Accident in a skyline (UGH)

So i didnt go out at all yesterday cause there was to much snow. but this morning didnt look to bad.. so i decided to see if i could make it.
I was 2 blocks from work. traveling at about 25 - 30 Kms..
When the rear end slid out on me..
I tired to correct, ended up up in the other lane.. hit a lady in her honda Civic.
My Baby.. got some front end damage.. wouldnt start cause the intercooler piping was bent.
    So it Got Towed..
Im going to get it back to my place this today, into the garage where i will work on it.

    Here are some pics..
You can bash me if needed. I wont fight back..
    LoL

    So moral of this story..
If it snows dont take the risk..
    Insure your Daily driver..
It will save your money if this happends..

Now i ahve to insure the Daily Driver anyways.. and Fix my car.
    Great..
    :-(

I drove my GTR for two winters, without winter tires, and had no problems.
So saying "if it snows keep your car off the road" is kinda silly... granted you can be an amazing driver but that doesn't mean the person rear ending you is.

If your car is properly equipped, and you know how to drive it well enough (drive according to the conditions, not the speed limit) you will be fine in anything shy of black ice.

Sorry to hear about the car.

When driving in questionable traction conditions, always test for traction... i like to tap the gas to full throttle every 30 seconds or so and see how much it takes before the rear end steps out, and turning corners i let the rear end hold out at about a 20* angle (stops you from understeering out of your lane, and you can feel the traction by how much throttle needed to maintain angle). Driving like this in the snow i've never over or under steered out of my lane, because you know how much traction you have all the time.

I drove my RWD GTR on bald summer tires for a winter with no trouble (except for steep uphill mountain passes), GTS-T the year before, and this year my drift car/corolla when the 240 won't move.

Ps: attend a couple drift events you'll feel a lot more confident driving in the snow.

                    EXACTLY!!
Every time I hit a new road surface I make sure nobody is around me and I mash the brake or gas to test for traction. I made it through those two winters on bald-ass Yoko's with no problems at all.
