I'm alway willing to lend a wrench, come by my garage if you need help with anything. I really don't ask for much other than lunch or a beer.
Just PM me and I'd be happy to help with pretty much anything.

I was thinking it would be really interesting if we could get a list of people who are willing to help out noobies (like me) in performing car work. Not just give advice on the forum but actually physically meet up with that person to help them install stuff, teach them new things/skills etc. So it would be like a mentoring program for people new to skylines/cars altogether.

I feel this would be good idea as this could help alot of the younger people on the forum with tighter budgets. Also it would make the Skyline community more friendly and less intimidating for people new to our genre of cars. Any thoughts on the idea?

Even though I don't have a car, If I was able to get to these meets, I could probably learn a lot by the time I can actually get a Skyline. Sounds like an awesome idea in my situation.

I'd be down. I think at a better place like timmy ho's or something would be good. Since if not many people show up there is always a place to sit and eat and is open like 24/7. Ikea is not open as much and really isnt a good place to sit and chat. What about timmy ho's on lougheed highway near brentwood mall? Large parking lot, big enough tim's and pretty central to everywhere.

Anyone down for next friday night 8th, put your name!

As for mechanic work, i only know basic stuff like filter/oil changes and other random stuff like coil cleaning, throttle body cleaning, and I do a pretty damn sweet gts-t n1 duct bumper cut with a drill and a saws-all. I'd be really interested in learning more like timing belt changes and big stuff like headgasket replacements.

haha because your genuinely interested in skylines, not just another tire-biter. But seriously if you ever wanna hang out and talk cars, my name is Shane, Im 18 (young lol), 6'3" white male looking for a soulmate that shares interests with me and likes to talk, is spontaneous, open with there emotions, can enjoy the simplicity in having a lazy night infront of the TV and is funny and loves to laugh.....at least thats what my eHarmony account says. i'm not too keen on having it on friday though. Many people have other commitments on fridays, like church groups, satanic worship groups, etc etc so that would not lend particularly well to high attendance.

But great call on the timmy ho's though. Hella closer and comfortabler. I'd mostly be concerned about the police presence there, not that it would matter but just don't wanna get hassled too often. Howbout this thursday?

btw we already got a list

Yes I would come. I just haven't gone to many lately as my car has been garaged and I don't like looking like a poser. I'm a true GTR owner, it stays on jackstands.

see this is the problem with having weekly lowermainland meets. im in maple ridge, to get off work then head out to brentwood is just way to far out for me.

and shane you basterd :P i know the reason you posted there, thats like me saying lets have it in pitt meadows.

to have people in the valley come out i think you would have to get it a bit more east. i really dont see people from ridge, langley, mission coming out to brentwood to have a Coffey and talk for an hour or two.

well you don't HAVE to come but it would be nice if you could i liked the idea of IKEA originally but caliber brought up some very valid points about there, but it is more central to everybody. SOOO how about this Thursday at 8pm in the Ikea parking lot? is it closed at that time yet? How many people can make it? Let's do it regardless of if there's a dozen people or 3. That's how these things grow :-D

This is a great thread guys. Nice to see fellow Liner owners helping eachother out. I'm actually going to start a list in the sticky section. PLease add your name if you don't mind a little meet / greet / wrench with other owners.

this is an amazing idea!! i would love one out east as well. So far and thankfully i've met some really cool GTR owners that live close by my place and they've really tutored me the tech ins/outs of the GTR and cars in general. Thanks to LordGTR and Slick510 for all their help. My major issue is that i live in a condo, makes it difficult to try anything and shop time can be very $$. I'm still far from being a tech but i'm starting to know my way around an RB26

The one tip of advice i can give is one that Slick510 gave me "always remember its just a machine, dont be intimidated just try and if you fail it can always be fixed"

                                Gd luck!
