Dude...this thread is older than dirt. That particular Skyline was a total hackjob. And yes, once it is converted it's not worth any more than an unmolested specimen. The only real need for this is for those poor bastards in the republic of De Quebec where RHD is pretty much banned outright.

              my question for Jon,

dont know you, seen you post a lot around

correct me if im wrong... but isnt having full coverage insurance unlimited mileage for less than a jeep a good thing?

especially when the car is 450rwhp?

i know insuring a RHD anything is either more expensive per month or has its restrictions.

i would have to assume it would be the same across canada...

There are a ton of threads based on Ontario insurance, I have no clue. I live in the land of milk and honey where a Civic is the same insurance as a Ferrari and RHD doesn't mean a thing...even with 800hp. You have a great option with Lant (?) if your Skyline is your pleasure vehicle and you have a daily driver. Insurance is like, help me out guys, $400 per year (iirc).

Private insurance is a cancer.....god help you if you are single, under 25 and a booboo in your past.

360 per year for full coverage for me through Lant. You have to prove coverage on another vehicle and that you have been insured accident free for min 10 years. I've had my drivers since Oct 27, 1986 and only a few tickets so no issue here. Not supposed to drive to work, big box stores, etc but no mileage limit. To compare - my friends son is looking at a gtr and was quoted something like 500 per month but I think he's around 20 or so

Btw, would never have bought a lhd gtr

                    yeah..

i guess that is the difference...

silver wheels and lant both have restrictions

and i like to use my car daily in the summer... to where ever, for whatever

and im fully covered... i lost a twin turbo z32 a few years back due to shitty insurance coverage when i was forced off the road due to an impaired driver

i guess you have to be burnt once before to know the difference or appreciate the difference of proper coverage

one thing im still not getting tho is...

why is there such a negative stigma for a converted GTR?
this thing has lots of great work done to it...and it makes me happy

this car is set up so nicely... i once tried doing a full launch at 15psi... all the way up into 4th with only one finger on the wheel

there are no compromises in performance.... its literally too easy to drive...

also.. passing anywhere is a breeze...and drive thru's... yep i can go there

i dont get why some of you guys hate it soo much??

the r35 is a left hand drive GTR... and after i drove that... i wanted a GTR and realized that 80k+ was out of the question right now
                    so i made a compromise.... and bought a LHD_GTR_R32
i have spoken to soo many guys who love my car outside of this forum
especially my good mechanic friends who can understand/appreciate how much effort was required to do this conversion properly
let alone the performance mods there after

most of the guys who like my car, agree that they would pay more for a limitless car.. especially when that car is the r32 GTR

I have also heard that B.C is the land of milk and Honey!!
like its the best place in Canada to live

i never knew that the insurance for a civic and a Ferrari were the same there tho.. this i will check out..because it just sounds unbelievable.

Curious, did you get the LHD converted R32 that was on sale from Kincardine or a different one?

Cause they are hack jobs. Post up some pictures of the dash and firewall.

I must admit though, the conversions that are being done in the UK by an outfit there to the R33 are really nice. Unfortunately its only for the R33 but its nice that you can either send them the car to be converted or they will sell you the kit. Something like $6500 for the kit. Dash is a fiberglass reversal of original and is trimmed out better than factory...most of the mechanical is bolt in.

Insurance on my truck is $2400/yr before discount (43%), my GTR is $2100/yr before discount (pleasure only, can still drive to work 6 days a month, no other restrictions).......Lamborghini Gallardo, $2700/yr pleasure (less43% if you have a discount).

No i didnt buy mine from kincardine

this one was converted in the Uk

the firewall was done in fiberglass and 15 years later looks pretty well in my oppinion
the dash has a bubble in it and is in need of a reskin... but its custom grafted and worth the effort

its my understanding the r32 dash regardless is notorious for bubbling any ways.... so that is a non topic

full insurance for me is just under $1000 per year
and that is if i keep it fully insured through the winter... which i just put fire and theft on it, so it drops even lower annually
(that is lower than any of my previous cars/trucks... and the gtr is the meanest by far)

my car is not on trial here,

im just wondering why there are some of you that have beef with a properly converted GTR to get past our stupid driving regulations here in Ontario

the fact this one is converted is one of the best parts of my car in my eyes...

i've put a lot of effort into making this car nice

just like most of you guys did with your cars

                              What is the 43% discount?

insurance in Ontario has no 43% discounts...

                              that sounds interesting

That is cheap! What was it appraised at for insurance? At that price I'd guess $10k max? Or $5k if they insure by black book value? We had full coverage on our murano when it got written off (12k dmg) and we got $52k payed out so I imagine if you did $3k of dmg they would write it off?
