So you had NO problems with insurance becasue this is LHD? The fact of the VIN, it's a Skyline....etc?

The only reason these cars are RHD is because they are Japan market only. I've been asked literally hundreds of times why I want to buy RHD so bad and my answer is this: I don't buy them because of the RHD, they just come that way.
If my Pajero was LHD, it would be fine by me. But the condition that cars come are coming from Japan, and what you can get there that you can't here....I'll deal with the RHD part.
That said, I wouldn't spend the $$ just to specifically convert anything to LHD, but I have nothing against it either.

I agree with a previous post....some pics are required!!

i understand that nothing is better than oem original...

        i understand that fully...

but Rhd cars are put into a different category here in Ontario
and not only do they attract the police... the insurance coverage is shady

so my resolve to this was LHD... the car drives amazing... but it took some work to get there......
but i love to fix cars... and now this one is the spotlight center stage in my collection

i dont have a full photo shoot of the car right now, and its still in storage...
but for sure... im not afraid to show it off... and when i get some pics... i'll post them

well.. i guess that is how most people feel who own a RHD,

as that is the way these cars were made

this car has all the guts of a GTR... and modified tastefully... and professionally
but i guess im alone here thinking that its good to have a GTR that gets by all the Ontario insurance regulations
and attracts less heat... when the cops are trying to take everyones rides away when they want to have a little fun

these cars are super fast... and the cops like to meet their quotas.

also like Jon said... that there is a issue with RHD cars in Quebec...
not that it will happen like that here in Ontario.... but who really knows what the next set of rules/restrictions will be.

You guys in Ontario are lucky to still be able to import RHD. In Quebec, We are stuck with a governement who is afraid of what is different. As for my part, I love driving on the right side. A LHD skyline will still be attrative because, as it been said in a last post, a skyline is kinda unique in Canada. Thats "uniqueness", if i can say that haha, will STILL attract Police because its not common and
built for japan. Insurance still doesnt have Skyline list in there paper so I dont think it will be "easier" with authorities.

I'm convince, if you ask a fair price, you will sell it.

its not for sale... i was just trying to figure out why some guys had something negative to say about a fellow GTR that was LHD

im planning on going to skymeet this year and other club meets...

i've put a lot of effort into this car, and i hope it earns some respect in the community here

                cheers

Hey, RHD or LHD it's still a GTR and by definition very cool. Just personal taste for some of us that's all - I don't think anybody's hating on it. I can still appreciate a tastefully modified Mustang or even a Civic or something like that but personally would not want to buy one.

To answer the insurance qu from Nismo S-Tune, my car was appraised for $14,000 and is insured for full replacement value. I have no limitation on mileage and there is actually no wording in my policy about restrictions at all. It was suggested to me by my broker that I don't drive to work, big box stores, etc... Lant is only the Broker. The insurance is through Hagerty/Aviva and the car is listed as 'Collector - Modified'. It is insured fully for 365 days a year. I think it's so cheap because i'm married with kids, in my 40's and have never had an accident. I've had a bunch of fairly large speeding tickets but not for a few years now (since they changed the 50 over rule).

It works well for me since I'm a contrator and typically put about 50K a year on my crew cab truck. The GTR just won't work to carry tools, concrete forms, large millwork around hahaha. Collector car insurance isn't for everybody but it's great for a third car that only sees limited mileage.

                      @ AL91GTR

Good luck renewing your insurance his year. Hagerty just changed their policy and are no longer covering any RHD cars less than 25 years old. Apparently they filed for a rule change with FSCO to change their policy to 25 years and FSCO approved it.

I think someone needs to start a Class Action Lawsuit against the insurance companies here in Ontario. How is it that we can import RHD cars that are 15 years old but can't get insurance for them? Ridiculous!!

Here is a copy of a letter I just sent to the FSCO. I think we all need to step up here and start to make some noise before they outright ban RHD vehicles.

                        "To Whom It May Concern,

In December I was looking in to importing a summer, show/weekend car from Japan. While looking for insurance I found it next to impossible to even get a quote for a right hand drive car. I finally was able to get a great quote form a company named Hagerty. So I began looking for and importing a right hand drive vehicle from Japan. I will finally have the car here by next week. However, Hagerty now says that as of last month they have changed their policy and no longer will insure RHD vehicles that are less than 25 years old. Now I can't find any one who will insure my car. What am I to do? How is it possible to be able to import these cars to Ontario but not be able to insure them? It makes no sense.

I would have never imported a RHD vehicle if I couldn't get a reasonable rate for insurance. I'm married, no kids, 42 with a clean driving record and no claims. How can I not get insurance? Apparently Hagerty filed for the change with FSCO and it got approved. Didn't anyone look in to the policies of being able to import 15 year old RHD cars from Japan to Ontario before committing to a request to change to the 25 year rule? It also affects people that have had insurance through Hagerty for years now as Hagerty will no longer renew long standing customers with RHD vehicles.

This is not fair and a backwards policy. It's discrimination and unlawful. Please consider looking in to this gap in the insurance industry. It needs to be rectified ASAP!!"

                          Must correct this part.
Not true as of my last conversation with them. (Today @ 9 am)

I agree something has to be done though, I can't even get in these conversations anymore without taking a xanex or something.

Yup. Luckily. Gonna try and get a petition of some kind going along the lines of your letter.
