  • GTR door side impact beam.

I was told that the later model GTR has the side impact beam in the door and I have some questions regarding it.
    - When does the Side impact beam become std on GTR?
    - How much does it weight compare to the one w/o the beam?

I have a 93 one and I am sure it has the side impact beam. Since I am going to get a cage with door bar, I am looking for doors w/o the beam to reduce some weight.

*FRP is good choice but I have fiberglass waves..

Side impact beams were included from Sept 1991 onwards

Why not just gut the existing doors? If your putting in a proper cage in anyways, you can just cut away all the crap you don't need on the doors you have...That's what I'm going to do.

I have allready eliminated power locks, speekers and related wiring. I have also relocated the window switch to the center consol and I'll be making a new interior panel from an aluminum sheet. Once my cage is fabricated I'll be cutting away and drilling "speed holes" in the hidden door structure.

I am planning to remain the power lock, power window and the stock door panel. I am thinking for the all that work..might as well just swap new doors right??

Are you doing this cage yourself? and the way im thinking right now, youre removing the lower door card and having a few bars run between you and the door skin? or am I way off... im just thinking of my friends sti track car..

No..I am not doing the cage myself. I am getting my fabricator to do it. I want to keep as many interior pcs as possible. I think from where I am going, I need to trim the door panel a little bit.
