This spring I would like to take my car somewhere to pull the rb out, upgrade a few things, change the timing belt, oil and water pump. I am located in Sault Ste. Marie, ON which is 3 hours north of sudbury. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who can help me with this! Thank-you oh and my build limit is about 5000 dollars.

I've used autoworx before, good bunch of guys. Nice garage. Haig and JR there know their stuff. They are good with GTR's, Haig knows sr20det better then anyone I can think of.
I got quoted from Autoworx at the beginning it was around 4000-5000$ for the rebuild with machining. Autoworx is not a machine shop, they outsource for that. Rebuild's aren't cheap, I'm knees deep right now and I'm around 14-15k$.
I read your post wrong, if you just need to do maintance like timing belt, and water pump, you don't need to pull the engine thats probably like around a grand not more. I get timing belt kits for 150$ and you can find water pumps for 100$, plus labor (its around 6 hours).

Water pump and timing belt you could do yourself. For the rest of the stuff, it depends what you want to upgrade exactly...
If I were in your area I would help you for the cost of beer... :P1990 Nismo GtR #283

I wouldn't pull the motor if I was you though, its a big job and if your pulling it you should change more then just the timing belt and water pump. It will end up costing you a lot more then you think. Didn't you have an oil pump issue too? If you do and plan on replacing the oil pump its a big job, and when you open the motor your opening a can of worms. With all that said you can just replace your rod-studs with bolts, and change the piston rings, re-hone the motor, deck head and block, change the head-gasket and you have a pretty solid refreshed motor (thats considering the fact that your cylinder walls are good). A stock refreshed motor would probably be 5000-6000$ with everything.

from all the work i've had done at autoworx, if theres one thing i realized, its that they offer superd service and labor
but they charge a bit much for parts,
take that list, and search around, you can easily save 20% off those prices
check with the sponsors here (feast, ztune, jns, tunerlab) and nismoparts.com and such for the nismo/oem parts
whats your power goal with such a build?
and i hope you have tought about all the necessary external mods to support this power
i.e. fuel pump, fuel rail with FPR, injectors, coilpacks, rad, FMIC, intake kit, catch can, ECU, BOVs, exhaust

I agree the service at autoworx is incredible I was on the phone for a good 45mins just talking about options, I do not plan to build a powerhouse just a reliable rebuilt RB, if I were to toss out a HP number id say about 400, everything is still in the works i just thought id post that list to give anyone else who wanted to know about build prices a descent estimate

that looks like 8-9k total dude, lots more than your 5k plan. i think you got a good price on the pistons and conrods, but look around for the other things. i think you can find better prices.I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

i dont want to drift off topic but, like etien said timing belt, water pump, plugs are easy to do. imo i would just do those for the moment (you'll feel better having done them yourself anyway), then save money, research, collect parts, and when the time comes you can do everything at the same time and once. cause trust me, when you're going to pull the motor out, you're gonna find other stuff that could use replacing and you're gonna say "might as well do that while the engine is out" and that $5000 budget isn't gonna like you.
it's a snowball effect from there.. i remember when i said "im just gonna replace the blown turbo and that's it" now look where i am...
dont get me wrong i am in a great place right now, and a lot others too are here, but ask anyone of us, it was a hell of a rideCheck out my RB30 build at
