at 50% you dump the clutch? so actually when your speedometer start moving your actually at 3.5k rpm ?Originally posted by RGB View Post+1 on Braden's comment.
My car did 12.2@118 last year. HKS intake filters, 2860r-5 turbos, and exedy single plate. And my reaction time is pathetic (>1 second.)
Just in case, don't even think about burning out to warm up your tires.
I sit at the line and bounce the RPM between 4-6k in time with the lights. On green you give 50% throttle while bringing the clutch out. Once you're engaged go 100% throttle. AWD takes care of the rest, skyline loves spinning all 4.Need detailing done to your car? I'm open to travel to detail your car :

It's gradual. You have to slip the clutch to remove any looseness in the diff. If you just dump it pedal to the metal something will inevitably break.
I think what Rob meant was start slipping the clutch when your throttle is at 50% and gradually increase your throttle to reach 100% by the time the clutch is fully engaged.R32 GTR FULL SERVICE MANUAL DOWNLOAD:

I went 11.5@116 on the stock turbos in my R32. ~1.3-1.4bar of boost. I took some weight out of the car to do it.
I was on 4 245 wide OLD hardened R comps and my 60' on that run was a 1.52.
I wouldn't reccommend launching on the stock clutch unless you want to change it, I hear they don't take more than a dozen launches from brand new to dead. I have a nismo twin that was half worn out when I put it in and it took at least 100 launches and still wasn't slipping when I took it out. (the discs were getting pretty thin though!)
I've found the optimum launch is around 5500-6000RPM with a quick slip. Dropping the clutch always resulted in doing a burnout and not going anywhere, or if the RPM's were a little too low a bog. Basically when I want to launch I hold it at 6k and then when I go I go WOT as I'm letting the clutch out, then grab 2nd as soon as I see 7000-7500 on the tach. A solid 1-2 shift is key, and be gentle with 3rd if you have an aftermarket clutch unless you wanna risk breaking the gear.
an RB26 sitting on the starting line has a bit of intimidation factor too if you've got the revs sitting at 6000 waiting for the lights and I bet that helps slow the other guy down now and then.1992 GTR - 2.7L, GT2871R's, forged bottom end, big valves, 270* cams, R34 getrag

I have an exedy twin plate in my R32, i find it really touchy compared to the stock clutch I had in my gts4 lol, would I go about launching my GTR the same way or do you launch differently with a twin plate?Originally posted by DarkCaporaL View PostIt's gradual. Nope, that's the ticket. Twins can handle a "rideout" much better than a single. With my twin I hold at 6000rpm then balance the clutch and throttle input untill I am at full boost and fully engaged with the clutch. Then about .5 sec later I have to grab 2nd....LOL.
When I get it right I can pull off a 1.6 60' with all 4 tires (225's) squawking on a prepared track.
If the Mustang is on slicks (with that wide range of times I doubt it) he really has to screw up bad. If he has radials he is dead meat if you mess with his head. All he has to do is mess up a tiny bit, once he sees you pulling away from him like crazy off the line he will panic and blow the tires right off trying to catch you. AWD cars really shock people if they have never lined up against one before, especially on the street. You might be able to stay ahead of him through the traps.

Soooo... my daily driver suzuki esteem blew an engine last month and I had to swap that one. It's finally over now, and I'm going to be driving it come Monday. The GTR still needs the new engine pulled apart, machine a crank collar, install the new oil pump, water pump. Wash the engine bay, new rad, new tie rods all the way around, new MAFs, gotta make some custom piping, needs a tune, install a 3.5" cat and a test pipe, full fuel system upgrade, all oil, and coolant hoses are going to braided stainless, installing a roll bar and 4-point harness. I don't think I'm going to be driving it at all in 2010.
It's really not motivating to organize the Ottawa Skymeet if I can't bring my car.
