  • Brake Upgrades

My car is going to be making upwards of 600hp now. (more on racegas!).
I'm sure that the stock brakes aren't going to like that, especially on track days. I've got upgraded pads (EBC yellows) but I just don't see them handling THAT much power on track, at least not for long.

I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on a big brake kit either.

What are some economical options that will handle that kind of power and fit inside a 17" wheel?
I have a feeling that adapting some other OEM setup designed for something heavier and fast from the factory will work well.
Has anyone looked into the EVO/STi brembos? they're cheap as hell and look WAY bigger than R32 brakes. I'm sure with good pads they perform excellently. and they're both the same bolt pattern (all evo's, and sti's after 05) as R32's so maybe rotors will even fit.

BCNR33 Brembos are a decent upgrade, 4 piston but bigger than the R32 pistons, and use larger rotors. Pretty much bolt on as well. They fit easily behind my 17" TE37, and probably any 17" wheel as the BCNR33 came with 17s.
Not sure about STI or EVO calipers though.

        I just posted over there.

I don't want to spend 2 grand on marginally better R33 brakes, there has to be something with a better bang/buck ratio than that.

hell, $2k buys 6 piston amazing C6 Z06 brakes that will stop anything.

Maybe I'll buy a set of evo brembos and see what it will take to make them fit. I can always resell them if it looks impossible.

I'm also running around 600whp and use my car for the track with stock brakes. Finding a good brake kit for a reasonable pice is near impossible for our cars. Before I go nuts and just buy a brake kit I'm going to try a full racing brake pad, good fluid, w piece rotors, and I'm also testing a system which sprays small amounts of water inside my rotors when I apply the brakes. Works good so far.

Please don't tell me I will crack rotors I've heard it before, i've done research, Just look up Willal racings brake cooling instead of arguing with me
