R32 GTR vs. 2010 Vette ZR1

He won 16.8 million, honestly couldn't have happened to a better guy either. Had a tough life growing up, single father with 2 young girls and was a laborer for a small roofing company so his money didn't come easy. He is still super humble and you would never know he's rich by talking to him or looking at him.

In Edmonton there was a bankrupt welder won $42 million, he bought a C63 amg from my work, sent it to Renntech to have evrything they could do done to it, came back with 550hp. The car looks and sounds insane. The owner seems like a cool guy that will actually drive the car and not putt around town in his 500hp status symbol.

The ZR1 is an absolute beast. Here's my take.
Launch advantage will depend on tires and conditions. AWD will give the edge to the GTR in most cases, but ZR1 with good rubber will launch like crazy.
Power to weight will determine the edge within a particular gear and will be close between these two.
Top end speed advantage is clearly ZR1. You'd need to change GTR gearing to avoid being left in the dust when you hit redline in 5th!
If evilgtr is using his ViPEC flat shift capability, power interuption during shifting will be negligible. If he lifts to shift, the ZR1 will gain. This is the deciding factor.
Last, but not least - do this on the track.

My only experience racing a ZR1 was on a circuit course. I could beat him sometimes, and he beat me sometimes. Fast car!

Hi Dan for starters the ViPEC is nothing short of incredible I couldn't be happier with it ! Have you used the launch control on yours yet ? Make sure you have both hands on the wheel its rediculous of the line. Unless the weather clears up the race isn't going to happen until spring it's raining here and the snow is on the way. And it won't be on the street and I k lathe policy on kill stories - don't post them.

There will be lots of video footage dont worry ! I dont know how to upload pics onto gtrc haha I can try to meet up with him this week and get some pics, he has a new gt500 KR mustang to that he doing more work to,it's 540hp stock. It sucks that it prob won't happen until next year now because of the weather but who knows last year I was driving my car up until dec 17th so fingers crossed this rain and snow goes after a few days. Might not be such a bad thing If it doesn't happen till next year because I have a few goodies to install this winter then retune in spring to hopefully 600+ whp

I love it when vids like this are shot with a decent camera and aren't dominated by wind noise.

The R35 is nice, but needs to lose the HID side markers and weird rear overfenders.

i dont understand why they would run the r35 at only 500hp against the zr1 why not like 700 for a more even match?

Because the zr1 represents the absolute best that shitty American car producers can come up with so with north American car companies struggling and overseas car manufacturers profiting ( Toyota the exception) there is know way they would make it fair, if the Gtr had won overall motortrend and the other domestic car testing companies would have never aired it. The Gtr was never at 500hp and the zr1 actually produced more hp then claimed. It will be a different story this year with the slightly more refined Gtr and the added hp and suspension and trans upgrades I feel the Gtr will take it down overall. If they wanted to make itfair the could have used the nearly $40,000 price difference and spent it modifying the Gtr to make the cost per car fair - if that were to happen in reality Kleenex sales would go through the roof from all the crying zr1 owners and fan boys

it is what it is. there will always be a faster car and you can always modify your car to go faster than the next one just depends how deep your pockets are.

i can only speak for the '05 z06 but vettes dont put it to the ground well...
in 3rd it can kick sideways
if both drivers are well-experienced at draggin then it should be close
