Can all JDM cars start without using the clutch? Or is there something wrong with my GTR?

It's a USDM thing, some hardcore euro cars don't have them either (ie: volvo and old BMW)

I mean yes, if you wanted a clutch-safety switch, you can wire that in via alarm.

I've actually seen someone do that IRL, weird, I know.

i recall some DSM guy's claiming that having to step on the clutch to start the car contributed to crank walk.

it does put extra load on the thrust bearing when its got no oil. Probably not the best for it but I've only heard of DSM's dying in that manner.

Clutch switches are relatively new and only over here. I think they started happening around '86 or so. People in other parts of the world are smart enough to not start the car in gear it seems.

North American Supra's require the clutch, JDM Supra's do not.

It's mandatory for cars sold off the assembly line in North America to have them.

it probably has something to do w/ actual cases where people sued companies for 'letting them start car in gear'.

                          Ya know, UHMERIKA and all.
