    Why not?

Do you have any idea how many Japanese dudes in Jland drive theirs in the winter (and yes, I mean real winter with snow and everything). I drove mine around in the snow this year before the city crews put down the gravel in my area and it drove great, even with my Z rated steamrollers on it.

Its a car, not a ming vase.

Interesting thread , buy the gtr just be careful what you buy .

At stock boost , no or little modifications the GTR will be a reliable car - ive put 10k on mine over the last 2 years and although ive done alot of work on it - the work was not as a result of break downs. If i elected to just drive it without the mods- it would have cost me nothing but regular service (oil change etc) .

I dont think its that expensive to run , not bad on gas depending on your driving style. The oil pump is not an issue on 99% of cars unless you start beating on it. The engine itself is a very simple and reliable design compared to some of the stuff ive worked on.

A set of good winter tires , reserved driving style and good maintenance schedule will get you through the winter no problem. If your at least competant when driving your worst enemy during the snow will be other drivers , not your car!

The tranny , awd system and suspension is pretty much bullet proof with a stock engine . The car is extremely well balanced , the attessa system will help in the snow , go for it..

with the amount of time one spends waxing and cleaning, why? i would rather drive my beater tacoma in the winter than potentially ruin my paint/undercarriage by driving the skyline, not to mention other drivers

Again, not every car is a preening princess. A little undercoating and some ATF treatments to the body joints and you will never have any rust issues either.

There are lots of GTRs out there that are less than perfect and are an excellent winter platform....with some decent tires, the AWD, ABS and a good driver = winter win.

Id like to just say I cant see daily driving a gtr. I may be a bit biased as my car has much more power the stock and wasn't exactly taken care of all that well before me but ill be damned if I don't have 10k in oops car needs that now in the last 3 months. I love the car to death but mines broke ALOT more then its drivable. The only way I can describe it is a second relationship, it gets more attention and more money thrown at it then my lady lol ive daily driven multiple high attention cars, 3 s4s, 4 m3s,a m5 e55 amg and none of them have drained my wallet like the gtr has. its def a love hate thing. but you'll have to pry it from my dead hands before I give it up. But still say its more a toy then daily driver however

I dd my gtr, no big deal or issue. Still pushing stock power and what not though. Mine was a one owner in Japan car though and has been treated well. Half the battle with these old gtrs is finding one that has been looked after. More cost up front but it saves you a lot of cash in the long run.

Still debating about getting it under coated, oem suspension, and studded winters and winter driving it or not.

Having thoughts about a GTR again and thought I'd read this thread to see what i was thinking months ago before i decided which car. It's been 4 months since i got my version 3 STi imported. Not really regretting the decision as its been 100% problem free (nothing serious anyway). Don't know if i would trade for a GTR but i sure wish i could have both lol...

Anyways, i ran against a buddies BNR32 and i won by a car length. stock vs stock, boost leak vs boost leak haha not too bad

its is for this reason that as an avid car enthusiast i am having 4 inches removed from my femurs to allow me to drive a wider range of sports cars

Hey back again lol. There's an r32 I'm considering trading for, wondering if someone could pm me and let me know what they think of both cars and give me their opinion?
                              Thanks
