  • Fuel system idea *diagram inside*

So im just trying to figure out a new fuel system for myself for this rebuild.

I quickly through something together with paint after doing a little research.
For the record my current fuel system consists of:

sard in tank 280lph wired constant
    tomei rail
    aeromotive filter
    aeromotive fpr
    stock hard lines.

This is my new idea to add a swirl pot and increase the capabilities of my system.
So far i made 417whp @ RG with this setup but i have plans to beat that by quite a bit this time around, and if anything this is a great way to beat fuel starvation due to hard cornering (sloshing)!!

tell my what you think please!
Will this setup support higher power than stock?

    Cheers!
    Brent.

Looks good Brent. Not sure if it matters but I ran a -8 line from swirl back to tank just to be absolutely sure there is no pressure in swirl pot.

Im not sure what is new about your design but yes that is the correct way to setup a fuel system. And your sizing is all correct unless you want over 800hp. then you do the same thing just with split supply lines running to the fuel rail and no y.

I have the same kinda thing going on, except I have a 15gal fuel cell. Mine is set up the exact same except i'm using a stock rail, sard fpr, a low pressure pump to feed swirl tank then a veyron fuel pump as the primary. That diagram looks spot on. You won't have any problem with fuel starvation or getting the fuel up to the front. Show us when you're done!

I think I'm going to take a stab at making a DIY post for this

Off to mopac tomorrow to buy the necessary parts. unless someone can point me in a better direction for parts?

mopac will hands down be the best for this. been there done that. im running stock gtr intank pump to feed the swirl pot then an inline aeromotive a1000 pump and filter to the tomei rail and percision 1000cc injectors. all -8 lines

on a side note if you have gotten rid of hicas the holders for the hicas lines are perfect for running -8 fuel lines!

One thing that has always been hammered in my head from people in the know is always use the same size return as your feed in hi-volume FI fuel systems. Apparently the A1000 pump is a bit of a heat generator and the large return helps to keep it cool. I think even AeroMotive recommends this.

Something you might want to ask about at Mopac. Me, I'm running 1/2" aluminum lines for my feed and return.

Check out Radium Engineerings universal setups, @ www.radium auto.com, they have really nice surge tanks with many pump options also really attractive I think. I am also a fan of the ones from integrated engineering we installed one of their setups on a road race car, @ www.intengineering.com
Looks like you already know what you want, just giving you some more options

I run a fuel cooler seems to help with recycled fuel... But ya -8 is a big return line shouldn't generate much pressure. I run a -6 return through a cooler then into the surge then a -8 back to main tank...

Anyone know if it will be an issue to use my 280lph sard to feed the surge tank? Or will this be too high of pressure?

I'm thinking it should fine, but this is my first stab at a fuel system.

Should be alright. Just make sure you have a return line from the swirl tank back to the fuel tank like in your diagram.

For the surge feed the stock pump is way more than enough because effectively, there is no pressure, the pump is running wide open. The 280l/h is at 3bar, at 0bar it's most likely 400l/h. I would sell that one and get a stock pump for the surge feed and upgrade the main pump, or get another 044. They're good but I think might be maxed out at the power level you want to be at on pump fuel.

I know with stock single entry fuelrail (can use Sard dual entry fuel rail, but with single entry setup), using one fuelpump the damper FPR sends pulses back towards the pulses the return FPR is creating thus eliminates the pulses inside fuel rail.

I gather it's similar to aiming two speakers with same sounds, volume at each other to cancel out sound.

With dual entry fuel rail, dual fuelpumps the pulses are coming in from both sides of fuel rail and meet in middle and cancel each other out. That's where you have a return fuel hose, FPR off the middle exit part of fuel rail.

Also run teflon lined fuel hose to get rid of fuel smells in cabin, trunk, etc.
