Hey guys I'm looking into buying a new BOV for my gtr. I just had a couple of questions for anyone that can help. Whats a good choice for BOV's, i was looking at the blitz style. Do I need 2 of them like i've seen on other rides or will one work. Is there any complications with installing them...as in will i need to remap or is it pretty simple.

for the bov, you can install 2 and use the oem piping. You can use 1 as well with no issues but you'll have to weld a flange on your piping or like i did: i bought a greddy type R bov with the recirculate kit. So no soldering needed! The type R is for high boost applications tho.... HKS, synapse, BLITZ, turbosmart and tial have also good stuff to choose from. Check on youtube for the different sound they make, so you can choose... Some members here will say that they don't run any bov: I don't feel comfortable with that idea...
Injectors: if you can find another set of good condition, stock injectors. Or if you can spend a lil, injector dynamics, HKS, RC... Make a lil search on the web, so you can compare prices... But yeah, with aftermarket/bigger injectors, you'll have tu get the car tuned... As well if you swap you recirculate bov for vented styleMy sky got 99 problems but to find bitches ain't one
Once you go sky; Parts you're going to buy...

Stock injectors are said to be 440cc, but someone on here said 480cc when flow tested. Second hand GTR injectors from a low km R34GTR or similar might be your only option, as most injectors sold are bigger with cc than stock injectors.
Synapse BOV and they sell a BOV kit for GTR -
They can run in push configuration (like stock BOV, where boost pressure can push them open, which is a form of overboost protection) or pull configuration (boost pressure keeps valve closed). They will make engine run slightly leaner (where the extra hp comes from).RESPONSE MONSTER

I think my one injector is leaking to. Can I get bigger ones, then drive to get it tuned? I plan on having it tuned next spring but might as well get some big injectors before! I'd adventually like to hit 500hp, what's a good size?
Thx, sorry to jack ur thread

You need to adjust injector settings, which adjust's fuel map, as it will run too rich if you don't.
For example of what happens when you don't adjust for bigger injectors -
I would rent a drive on racecar trailer and get someone to tow it. Or put on a flat bed towtruck.
Also need higher lph fuelpump to match injectors, fuelpump hardwire kit.
Use calculator to work out size of injectors for hp level (engine) you want -
Use 80% duty instead of 90% and a fuelpump manufacturer recommended 0.75 B.S.F.C for turbo engine, but they suggest .5 or .6.
Fuelpumps have flow data to say what rough hp they will support. Up to 80psi is the area you look at on chart -

GTS x1 BOV, GTR x2 BOV's run recirculated BOV's.
If run a atmospheric vented BOV, engine can run rich between gearchanges due to running a draw through MAF that can't adjust to loss of air inside intake piping behind MAF. If run recirculated BOV it sends vented air from BOV back into intake piping behind MAF and through turbo, so there's no loss of air inside intake piping.RESPONSE MONSTER

are there any risks associated with running rich if I were to swap out the recirculated for atmospheric?

Depends on how rich engine runs / how BOV is set, etc.
If engine runs rich enough, could wash oil off bores of cylinders and get into oil in sump, thus spoiling the oil, which could cause excessive wear problems. Get popping, flames from exhaust. Foul sparkplugs (if wrong heatrange). Turbo slows down too much when back off throttle and get reversion (air reversing direction, then back into MAF's causing them to make ECU make engine run rich and stall). Also that results in slow transient response (time it takes from pressing throttle to engine pushing you back in seat) if it doesn't stall, as turbo, etc has to get back up to speed.
If want to run atmosphere BOV, fit a aftermarket ECU with MAP sensor (MAP sensor is connected to intake manifold), so ECU can compensate for loss of air inside intake piping.Last edited by Skym; 10-07-2012, 10:58 AM.RESPONSE MONSTER
