i have 17x9 with 255/40 and side wall is square. new wheels are 18x10 w/265 (wish i went with 275) so id say for you a 265/35 would be good! imo 40 sidewall is to big with a 265..

275 will fit on 9.5 no problem. There will be rubbing on the front fender liners when you full lock. However not all 275(or anysize) will be the same between tire manufacturers. My 275 BFG R1's were 1/2" wider than my Hankook Z214s. I ended up having to roll my rear fenders to fit the R1's with the camber I wanted.

Next spring I will sell the 275s (hate to do that 'cause they grip alot) but I want back what a GTR is designed for... If you want them, we can deal something out: they''re pretty much like new...
Interesting, is it 45 series in front and 40 series in the rear? If so, that is the exact setup I have and have no issues running the AWD. I may go with 315/35r17s in the rear next year because I happen to like the bulge look and a 275 is stretched a bit on a 10" rim.

275 on 9.5 will be no problem.

This is what 265 Direzza looks like on 9" and Direzzas are underrated for size (real life measurements were bigger)

I plan to go Dirreza, they seems to offer the best ratio quality/price/treadwear over the 2 others I compared.

Since direzza stop at 265 in 17inch. My choice is now easy.

I heard star spec is running a bit wider so the 265 feel more like 275 anyways!! Looking forward to see how it will feel on the street

It will mount, but it's about an inch away from "good" support for the sidewall. I don't see a real problem unless you are going for all out speed, in which case that is a compromise- better off with more sidewall support and a slightly narrower tire.
