  • Coilover rebuild (i know i know...)

    Hey!

I know this have been covered already, but its been a while....

May be I'm lucky and someone found a shop that can rebuild a set of old school HKS hyper Ds...

Have searched the whole freakin web (took several hours) but only found not so clear informations. Have sent like 7 or 8 emails to shops I've found on different forum discussions (SAU, supraforum, zylvia, GTRC indeed, etc), from australia to Cali, passing by UK..

Only couple of them answered and they all said: HKS are not serviceable anymore or HKS USA has closed their doors...

Still hoping that there is someone somewhere who still rebuilds them b4 thinking of buying a new set... Won't buy another used set unless it only has 500 km or less on them...

Pretty bummed right now has i bought this used set last year and they only made like 1000km b4 they blown

    Thanks for your help!

I'm in the same boat with my Tein Comfort Sport's. I have to ship them to Japan for a rebuild.

yeah, Tein seems to rebuild their stuff, but HKS is another story....

How much for the shipping if you don't mind (have you shipped four of them?)

I can't see it being possible that not one place on North America can rebuild coilovers, it's a shock, not a space shuttle, and we even built those. Either places are lazy or your going to have to find a place to fab up rebuild parts

yeah, thats what i was thinking too... I've juste received an answer from Feal suspension in California. They have assured me they can rebuild it! Skym told me that Stech.co prolly can do it too. For sure I'd prefer a shop here in Canada! I'll look into performance shocks as well....

I think this thread is pretty useful as I havent found much info on this on other forums....

Will update the thread as I have more info!

              Thanks again folks!

I've received some replies from the emails I've sent and Feal suspension does rebuild HKS' coilovers. The shock shop and stech.co.nz as well, they're both in New Zealand= shipping$$$

Although the NZ shops seem to offer very good services, I think I'll go with Feal. But if they were all located like in the US, I would have chosen one of the 2 others...

Thank you all for helping me!

Shock shop in portland doesn't rebuild HKS' coilovers: They only repair shocks they re selling....

Did you try to open the shock and have a look at it? The damper cartridge inside probably has a part number which can be cross-referenced.

no I haven't. Don't know much about coilovers repair... But if it's as easy, why only a few shops do accept to rebuild HKS' ?
