  • Gtr front axle removal question

Hey folks so I have an r32 gtr and my front axle is pretty much toast. Is it possible to remove the axle before it breaks and enable the car in just rwd mode and still be able to drive it? Until I acquire another axle obviously. Just want to be sure I won't destroy any running gear. Thanks!

        Crap. I have a spare.
You can pull the FWD fuse, drive it and shouldn't have an issue.

While leaving the axle in? I'm just worried it'll bind and break..

Hmm... if it's really necessary you could pull the fuse for the 4wd system and that would shut down any power going to the front. I can't remember if you can just pull the front axle out and leave it out to drive... It's been awhile since I pulled mine but from what I remember it leaves a hole in the front pan/sump thingy. Best off to just park it and not destroy anything.

Look around the for sale section for a part out or check out some of the site sponsors. If that fails most Nissan dealers should be able to source it out, but they'll probably bend you over.

The axle is what holds the wheel bearing together. Please don't take it out and drive! Just do the right thing and have it replaced. They can be found used cheap.
