New GTR!!

I just got my Skyline and i cant wait to start working on her!!

give me some suggestions on what to do first!

Just curious where did you get your car? Private sell? Local importer?

I got it from Tiger auto parts in toronto...... i would never suggest the place to anyone thouigh they scetched me right out! but the car was only 8 grand so i had to take it.....

i know what ppl are gonna say but i had the car completely checked out and the motor is running great, compression is amazing, only 74000 KM on her....

reason it was soooo cheap is the interior is in **** shape and alot of the electrical stuff was detached....

but anyways i love the car and couldnt be happier with my purchase as of right n ow! haha

uhm i know that car personally and all i can say i goodluck. my friend works for tiger and i'm familiar with most of their stock. btw you're not the first person that bought a car there and had it check thoroughly. my friends also bought theirs from there thinking the exact same thing and both of them had the engine crap out on them in a week.

its already got teins on it so i just need to adjust em

Start off with basic maintenance, like changing fluids, timing belt, plugs, checking coils, etc.

i did all the fluids plugs and general maintanance already..... anyone know of typical issues these cars have?

Change all fluids, service brakes, check suspension components for wear, get an alignment, check drive train components for wear.

Make sure the tune is good before pushing it.

If the oil pump drive has not been upgraded adopt a personal policy of keeping revs under 7k and FOR SURE stay off the rev limiter.

If the sump is OEM, stay away from R compound tires and extended high g corners. This will reduce the chance of sucking air into the oil pickup and avoid oil starvation.

Drive the car for summer in stock trim to get a feel for how it responds. Take a performance driving course. Attend some autocross events.

congratulations on the car. at 8k you got a good deal. dont listen to people who always give you the 3rd degree about how a friend and a friend of a friends GTR blew up and yada yada yada...people always try to scare you when you buy something new. THIS is your car and it doesn't nessesarily mean its gonna explode just cuz others blew it. for starters you dont know how those people drove their cars for it to blow or how previous unknown drivers of the car in japan drove it. i wouldnt worry about it too much seeing as you can get a very good bottom end rebuild for under 4k these days with machine work and very good quality parts. If it comes to a rebuild well...in the end how many people get a built GTR for 12k? just look at it that way congrats again man and welcome to the gtr comunity.

tiger's cars are pretty much ex junk yard cars from japan or ones tha should have went that way

thats why they are priced the way they are

make sure you maintain the hell out of this thing is my suggestion

Second off i would get them to give you the auction sheet so you cna see if the odo has been tampered with cause the 77k for 8 grand is unreal. Other than that have fun!
