  • Hey guys,

Just takin a break at work at the moment, thought I`d answer to ur comments... lol

Yea 91 is the plan for sure... even Haig said 91 instead of 94... but he did say If I plan on doing a track day and its REALLY hot outside, then put 94 instead of 91, but get the car tuned with 91.

but heres the question, different companies put different things in their gas. like 91 at petro Canada has `cleaning agents`or something in it... 91 at ultramar is usuall pretty dirty... 91 at shell is V-power enriched with nitrogen, and 91 every where else is probablyu slightly different as well... so if I tune with 91 shell v-power, can i use other 91 gasses for filling up later on? or will the tune be affected because of the v-power?

whats ur guys thoughts on that?

as for summer plans... want to do a few trackdays, would like to attend one at: mecaglisse, tremblant, and maybe do the ultraride if im not workin.. and I'd like to organize an event at Callabogie this year, something REALLY big, so that members from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and all the surrounding areas can get involved.. priority spots will be reserved for all/any type of Skyline... (because having 9 skylines on one track last summer was awesome and so much fun..) and with live music too possibly.

we'll see! lol, anyone know when the first julep meet is ?

      • Even tuning on 94 wont see much difference running 91 .. But i'll likely tune with shell this summer as well.. I've always heard good things and my car has run well in the past with it.

Definitely down for track days. Tremblant would be way too difficult to organize but otherwise those others you listed would be great!

        • @ DJ - is there a decently big group in Ottawa that might be down for it you figure?

@ MArc - get your turbo back!!! your killing me with the wait times lol

ok Updates time!: so I think I'm gonna end up tuning with shell V-power 91 octane, a few of my buddies have tuned with that and they report good success. I have some pics to share from the last couple days.... first, my plugs that Autoworx pulled out:

Lots of Carbon build up, obviously still running rich for lack of tune lol, and because I'm still babying the car, no full throttle 8000 rpm runs yet either... very soon though!

Realistically I'll be happy with anything over 400 horses at the wheels, I want a SUPER safe tune hitting 18 PSI... each tuner I've spoken to has said thats 100% possible with my setup, just depends on the dyno. If i tune with robin @ Almasi it'll be a dynapak dyno, so probably around 430 whp on that, or if I tune with ACSP its a mustang dyno so the numbers will be lower by like 20% cause its a much tougher dyno and we'll be lucky to see 400 wheel hp on the mustang.

anyway here's a couple more pics of the center console, I added a rubber trim around the edges of the defi link controller, and finished setting up the gauges. everythings working pretty good at the moment, all that's left to do is install the Blitz boost controller, I'll probably do that later this week as haig explained the best way, and it seems simple enough.

Driving with the new swaybars is 100% different than it used to be, I won't fully know how the under/over steer is until I have the chance to really push it in a corner, but as for handling at the moment, its sharp, very sharp. Switching lanes on the highway is just a flick of the wrist, and it even on the banked turns (like the one going onto highway 13 north from the 20 west, for those of you who know this area) the car stays very flat, and feels very agressive. I will admit that it did take some getting used to the new setup, at first it felt very twitchy and difficult to drive, but im warming up to the sensitivity.

          oh yah, pics;

              • You have the best looking center console on here I think. I love what youve done with the interior

                • just a tought here josh, but, before trying to organize big events and stuff, in your boots i would just signup to existing events to get a feel of how everything works

you know, if it hadn't been for all the info from me, that day at sanair would have a clusterf**k

theres already soooo many events already organized by knowledgeable and experienced people, theres lapping at st-eu with instructors every monday, they also have driving schools for beginners on some sundaystheres lapping at icar every tuesday, plus some sundays
                  sundays at mecaglisse
                  saturdays at sanair
ASELappingClub already have dates for Shannonville-Calabogie-Mosport-Tremblant
and theres aleady 5 or 6 dates set for lapping at riverside speedway with the 418 crew
everyone has to start somewhere, baby steps
i'd suggest lapping at st-eu on mondays with the ASELC crew, with instructors on hand that can coach you
real life isn't like gran turismo, you have to learn to feel the car, learn the tracks themselves, and the rules of the track

and btw, sanair is a stupid track, no skill is required to drive there,

                  my 2 cents

I think track rental and fees are in the 25,000$ range for the day.. It's mandatory to have officials at all times.. Stupid maybe one day!

Didn't you crash/spin out, at Sanair?..

i spunout because i was trying to all wheel drift, ken block style

but what i meant is, anyone can go fast at sanair, so anyone going there for their first lapping event will feel they are much better than they really are

go to st-eu, and you'll see experienced guys in 180hp civics and such going twice as fast as newcomers in STIs and the likes

at sanair, you'll only get 1 or 2 second faster a lap, even after alot of laps of experience, its just not technical enough

whereas st-eu, maybe you'll clock a 1;12 you first time, and after a year or two, you'll be down to 1;00, its much more technical so there is much more room for improvement as you skills improve

basically, don't ever base your level of skill on your performance at sanair

It's not the car, it's how you drive it!

Talking about tracking makes me REALLY wish I could get away from this province and find a nice RnD job in Quebec or Ontario
