Skyline GTR build/project *lots of pics + document
well, here they are! my new rims... (yes they are used obviously, but in fantastic shape) and the tires on them are brand new... so im not complaining.. if the faded stickers bother me in the long run i will just get them refinished, it doesnt cost that much compared to the cost of these rims BRAND new... i checked the pricing to get them here from japan... they cost $4000.00 canadian.. with out tires! .. and with out shipping or duties... so landed with tires.. we're looking near the $6000.00 range!.anyways heres the spec on the wheels:
Bronze Volk TE37 18" Forged, one piece, leight weight, Rays Engineering racing mags.
FRONT RIMS: 18" x 9" J offset +40
FRONT TIRES: Falken Azenis i think 255 (forget sizing?) R18
ill put some pics below, lemme know what u guys think, compared to the stock rims i had before?
also, i can tell you from a driving point of view, holy god do these bigger and wider tires make such a big difference, its like im glued to the road now... its awesome. ANNNDD finally, since these are PROPER size for my car, my ATTESSA AWD system acts how its supposed to.. when i drive on the highway the torque needle finally sits at zero... (unless under hard accelleration, then it pops up to say hello!).. sooo happy with these.. man, they fit like a dream.
anyways, next on the list is definitley going to be an alignment.. you can see in the pics the camber on those rear wheels! thankfully all my camber, toe, and caster parts are adjustable so the alignment specialist will be happy! ill call on monday to book an apt for it. get a proper street set up.
then, ill doing a few more things, ill post back in a couple of days and let you all know what the plan is... lemme know what u think of these wheels tho, thanks!
...soo apparently i forgot to post my explanation, i thought i did though? weird..
anyways, yes, obviously im going to get some spacers.... and a proper alignment.
as far as the "staggered" bit goes...i had my mechanic run the #'s in a program at his shop before installing them... theres is actually less than 4% difference between the front and the backs, so its a non-issue... no transfercase worries at all.
god ive never seen a group of people go so nuts over some wheel spacing issues! lol.. honestly... and the reason i'll do spacers instead of a +15 offset from different rims is because i really prefer the flat face look to the rim, as apposed to the sort of inward bending you get when you have a +15 offset.
but ya, i 100% agree i need some spacers to help fill out the arches... right?
a lot of people were saying 20mm's....what you guys think?

So... today i got the alignment done.. wow OMG what a difference it makes while driving, its unreal how much better the car handles now, and grip is second to none! awesome... i reccomend a good alignment to everyone.. honestly best $150 i ever spent.
so now i will measure the gap and order some spacers for the wheels!
