Continuing the story on the motor:

A deal was worked out with AutoDream so I didn't have to sell my soul. With a fresh engine and properly functioning ecu, the car ran delightfully. Except for the massive amounts of oil being burnt and the huge clouds behind my car. I was told by the mechanic that the car should stop doing it eventually with a bit of time.. Only it was getting worse. They inspected it and found a kink in my turbo oil return, which they said may have been the issue, but it turns out it was not. Cyl 3 is soaked in oil, and they don't suspect it to be valve seals or guides (seals were my original theory).
The car heads back to the shop again.

They suspected a cracked head... So the pulled the whole engine right out, and I guess I stumbled across it mid discussion. I showed up to talk to the mechanic about swapping my turbos out for rebuilt steel wheel turbos, but I was shooed away because the machinist and mechanics 'appeared' to be having a possibly heated discussion. Soon though, I was speaking with the mechanic and told that the cyl 3 piston would be pulled and inspected and told that the piston itself might not have and oil ring installed. I am so done with wondering what they do with that thing back there, that I just left it be, and let them handle it. Though the head might still be an issue, I was asked to pull the one of my other RB26dett to be inspected and possibly swapped over. Unfortunately, It has 2 bent valves and is in need of some tlc. I waiting for a reply from the shop, but until then, I will be rebuilding my spare head with quality components for when it is needed.
More updates soon, again I apologize for the huge delay between posts. I'll also be doing a hopefully helpful write up on how to do a basic port job on the RB head, and clean up the poor casting and machining defects that come from factory.
Just give it a couple hundred kilometers. It'll shoot you right in the wallet.

Sorry to hear those mishaps, but why not just buy an OEM engine, used or new, and be done with it?

Some good news today finally! I got an email last night and the car is good to go (so they say, just like every other time) but it sounds like they were really thorough and checked all of it out. I still don't know what the problem was, I'm waiting to hear back from the mechanic.

On another note, the GTR will be home and treated to a heated garage and some more goodies I got, like the new catch can and rebuilt steel wheel turbos.

Hoping to get my valve lapping tool today and begin restoration on my other head, and hopefully have it prepared for an N1 block I'm trying to get ahold of. Until then, I plan on throwing together an RB26 with the parts all over the shop, and swapping out my forged motor until everything is completely figured out and ready for big power!

Really hoping we get e85 here in Calgary soon, would love to build a super powered corn burner.

Here's the ravaged N1 block residing in Ben's garage:

The plans for buying another GTR shell will be postponed for awhile now, school has proven to take up more time that thought. One big score though... College fund is helping buy all new Snap-on and Mac tools 50% off

Picked up the valves for the project head last night too, thanks to a buddy off of facebook, I got them for free! Now for the seals, and maybe guides. Haven't completely decided on a set up yet, and if I can scrape up the money, I'll be buying a huge set of cams for the upcoming monster and just leave this head alone until I have time to get it machined. The head that Ben had with the N1 block was severely damaged from detonation.. and I don't want to have those problems in the future. For now the focus is to make sure the GTR is alive and well... Hopefully things roll smoothly from here on out.

So another 300Km on the motor after receiving it back with what the mechanic said was a manufactuer defect in the CP piston's oil ring on Cyl 3. So far so good! Couple things adjusted and she's running healthy again (knock on wood... without knock) and no more oil burning! A quick clean up of the engine bay and exterior and I am a proud GTR owner once again. Now I'm just cruising around until the break in is done, then the steel wheel turbos will be fitted and a planned 18psi shall be ran! Updating a few things visually, and soon I will be trading my current Advans for a set of 18" Rota P45s The car goes to the shop next week for a check up to make sure everything is still in great working order, and to possibly have a worn clutch replaced. Still rocking that 1200rpm high idle, but hopefully that'll be worked out next tuning seshion.
