                  Couple questions for you, when did you start this project?

                  Have you considered ditching the N1 oil pump in favour of something better? There has been reports of N1 pumps failing. Considering the amount of money and time you are investing, you may want to reconsider.

                  • Yeah... the EBAY junker "N1"s have failed... 3 reported failures out of how many N1 pumps? Kismetcaptain admits to buying a cheaper one on ebay... theres another thread on GTRUK too.

                    lets keep the internet myths to a dull roar.

                    There are FAKE greddy BOVs and oil pans,
                    FAKE HKS SSQV BOVs
                    FAKE Apexi turbo timers...

                      I posted it here because I was actually reading your sig yesterday noticed you had the N1 oil pump. Then read Felix's setup and noticed N1 pump. It is possible that some are fake, but you can see Tyndagos were not fake. There can be a million variables and causes as well. Your money, your choice.

                            I'm running the N1 as well after doing a fair bit of homework regarding reliability.
                            Most, if not all, accounts of N1 oil pump failures include either bouncing off the rev limiter (around 8000 rpm) or intentionally exceeding 8000 rpm as is typical with RB26s making over 600-800 hp.
                            The guys at XS Engineering have said on this board that the N1 is suitable for mid power builds up to around 400 hp.
                            On other boards, higher pressure pumps such as Nismo, Jun, and Tomei have been reported to create other problems related to higher flow through the restrictor orifice to the head. Oil can pool in the head if return galleries are not opened up enough resulting in low oil levels in the sump.
                            Please note that I'm reporting information gleaned mostly from Skylines Australia and do not have any first hand experience with high pressure pumps. However, one skill I've picked up in my short fat happy life is recognizing good information even if it's mixed in with a pile of BS. :-) I can tell you that some pretty reliable guys on SAU have struggled with oil management quite a bit, and a high end oil pump all by itself is not the answer to all RB26 oil delivery issues!
                            If anyone has first hand experience and techincal details on this issue, I'd love to hear it!

                                honestly... id on't think for my application..i don't think it needs to be any better, because RB30 isn't made to go crazy rev, 6500rpm - 7000 rpm is almost red line.
                                tho, don't just look at the rev band and think..what's the point.

                                with RB26, wth T78 turbo, i will get boost at 6000rpm at full boost
                                with RB30 with t78 with 6spd, full boost will be at 4000rpm, if you think about it....it will make same or even more power with lower rpm, which means i don't have to worry about the risk of breaking things going high rpm to get the same power, when i can get it at a low rpm, with the same or more boost rpm range. and i will be running methonal injections too, this will help me make power as well

                                but yes, n1 oil pump break cuz ppl bouce them off red line.....altho i will be racing the car....i don't think i'll bouce off the red line much....but may after summer, i will get a better one.
