    • lol felix, i admire your skill with the motor rebuild. Takes alot skill to be able to do work like that. If I had that much money I would prob go all out like you're doing or not do it at all and buy a porsche. LOL

Very nice build! I wish I had the balls to take my engine apart like that.

Now spend more money get the motor on the road!

        • I can't wait till this beast is running

And to all those who say he is going about this the wrong way/should have done the tried and true method etc... Well, think about it this way - if everyone thought the same way, and did the same build, the tuner scene would be very boring would it not?

I think it's awesome that felix is so into doing everything his own way, and when he is done he will have a very unique GTR.

You can't bore an RB26 out to a 2.8L motor, even if you take it out to 88mm which is as far as you want to go on a stock block, you're only looking at 2689CC's, so you could round that to 2.7L. To go all-bore to a 2.8 you'd have to run a 90mm bore, which will not work.

Felix: I wasn't saying "cheap out" on the build, but lots of people have built RB30's with the proper oil feed and bellhousing pattern on a budget. I wasn't saying people should cheap out or that you made the wrong choice by going all-out, but you can do an RB30 with stainless oil feed/drains and a welded/filled bellhousing for a modest budget. I'm just sticking pistons/rods in my stock 26, but if I had a little bit more time and space on my hands I would be doing an RB30 as well, just for the fact that you do make a ton more midrange power and spool the turbo faster, which is exactly why an RB30 would be more fun to drive on the street

              • both are equally important
to me and my understanding is this :
block = the foundation of a high rise apartment building

how high you can build the building depends on how "well built" the foundation is.

if your foundation is weak, even tho you can build it sky high, it is still going to fall apart.

long story short, to me, with any motor i would start building the block, making sure everything is strong before i start building the head. or adding balconies (turbos)

exactly, it will make such a minimal difference and the torque isnt effective. Like mcfly said... tq down low breaks stuff your power is up top

Love the car felix, are those recent pictures or couple months old?

                      • An RB30 will still rev high enough to make high end torque to be as fast or faster than an RB26. It's not like you're going to have to keep it to 7000 RPM's just because it's a 3.0 instead of a 2.6 :hit newb:

And what would you think is going to break more stuff, having to spin an RB26 to 11000 and launch at 7000 to go fast, or turning an RB30 to 9000 and launching at 5000? The extra revs are going to cause more problems than 40 or 50 ft-lbs of torque will.

What would you rather have, 500 ft-lbs of torque at 11000 or 600 ft-lbs of torque at 9000? I'll take the lower revving motor any day of the week. Then it would actually be streetable.

                        • Car will no doubt be fast, but I must say that it looked much better when it was in Japan. Theres way to much going on with it now, and that wing belongs on a 747.
