ok i tried and tried.. well not excessively but i tried to get it off... it looks like the belt tension adjuster is directly underneath the power steering pump itself but i tried loosening it and i cant get the assembly to move at all never mind enough to get the belt off... am i doing something wrong?

Did you loosen the M10 bolt that runs through the PS pump and bracket. It's on the top of the pump, and you have to align the pulley holes up with the bolt to access it. Once you loosen the tensioner, you actually have to push down on the PS pump to gain enough slack in the belt to take the belt off.Greg

but I'm having the exact same issue, I've loosened the tensioner, aligned the pulley and loosened the bracket bolt.
The power steering pump is still totally rigid and wont move at all.
Is there something I'm missing?
I looked at the thread posted above with no luck.

I just want to make sure so I don't bend or break anything.

I took off the power steerig belt, put a new one on but now I can't get it to tension up again!
I tightened the tensior until it picked up most of the slack and then it reached a point where it was just spinning but not tightening the belt anymore, it's still far too loose...
The tensioner is not cross threaded.... not sure what happened there, any suggestions?
