  • Which oil filter?

OK so I just recently bought a GTR with an R33 swap and was planning on changing the oil and oil filter. My question is what oil filter should I use for an R33 engine? All your help is greatly appreciated.

Oil filter is fram PH3682, I believe it's the same as a Maxima or a 300ZX

Air filter is K&N 33-2031-1, which is the same as 95-98 240SX and a few other things. OEM part number is 16546–V0100 or 16546-V0100. Got those off Sean Morris' blog.

I didn't tell him what to use, but go anywhere and tell them what kind of oil filter you want and it's pretty easy to look up a fram PH3682, instead of trying to give him obscure part numbers from 15 different manufacturers in case he wants to go to any of them.

i did hear that i could use the same filter as a 300zx-tt but i wasnt completely sure it was a reliable source but thanks for the info and ill most likely use the 300zx-tt filter. and as for oil, i was planning on getting royal purple synthec oil, 10W30 or 20W40, would there be any better oil?

i hope it wasnt cuz of the oil:s but the car came with Motul oil and ive heard its not the greatest. how did the RP work for you?

lol... motul is right up there with RP/redline/etc etc.

if anything id say the 300v is better then RP.

unless ofcourse, your car didnt come with 300v and just the regular cheap motul stuff.

and, run an oem filter, nissan part# 15208-53J00

i had the oil changed over to RP for about 1 hr, then it spun a bearing, i doubt it was the oil that did it, just worn out. I have been told that you should add zinc to your oil? it used to be in all oils and now it isnt, which has led to premature wear?? is this true? What about Delo 400 chevron oil or Shell Rotella T? these are both made for HO turbo diesel engines running at high temps. I have used it in every vehicle i have owned, my toyota pickup has 320000 k on it still has great compression and doesnt puff the slightest blue.

Yeah I'm not going to run royal purple for motor oil anymore. It isn't really recommended for older engines anyways. It's good oil though. I'm going to be running lucas oil. It is godly.

I'm not really a fan of any of the high end oils in these old engines. I think in some cases it's only the old crap in there holding them together. I changed the oil in my diff with Motul, I got 300km on it before it died. Changed the oil in the tranny with Motul made it 500km before the rear main seal started to leak. I'm sticking with Mobil 1 for my engine lol
