Yeah i gotcha, i havent sliced that little box open behind the air filters so i assumed there was a chip in there, from what ur saying i guess its not too hard i have a sauder gun and my pops is a retired mechanic so he can help me do the saudering, but thats what ur talking about right? The small boxes behind the air filters, slice em open and there will be wires theres and check for a loose connection?

          LOL. Thats all it was???
Find yourself the R32 GTR service manual, it will help you and your father figure out problems in the future.

Your senario would of been the perfect buy and flip oppurtunity for me. Be very happy you got a deal like that.
