  • Need alittle help with my RB26

Whats up guys. 1st I have to thank every1, Ive learnt so much from this forum in the last few months. And now its time for me to ask those last few question I havnt found.

1st off my car isnt a real GTR but it has the rb26 swapped into it and my questions are all engine related so I figured this would be best spot. Its a 91 GTS-t sedan. The guy that built the car in Japan was obviously a genius and really knew what he was doing. He build this thing from the ground for the track and it seems to be very very well done. The car is a beast and pulls like crazy. But being a 1 off build its kinda hard to figure everything out. Im hoping you guys can help.

1 quick pic of the car than well start Q&A.

Alright, Im gonna try do this easy as possible for all of us. Ive took a pic of my engine, # the questions I have and labeled the engine. Here we go...

    #1

I assume this is for my boost controller. This is the 1st thing I noticed... I dont have 1, but it did. Its plumbed for a closed system but in a way Ive never seen before and cant find anything like it... would this be right.

The blue line runs along under the intake manifold and goes into the back underside of it.

I assume this is right but Ive never seen it hooked back into there. But from what it all looks like I just need to buy a new 3way controller and plug er in???

    #2

This is another weird 1. Most RB26 I see have these 2 plugs hooked together side by side. Mine has another 8pin connection running under the washer jug. 1 wire spliced into the other 8pin.

    Leads down there to this...

It says JECS 015-000J03 on it. After googling Ive found its a Injector Resistor Pack. Any1 know why mine would have this?

    #3

There 2 wires there, a brown and a black cut and taped off. Are these for the boost controller?

    They plug into here...

    #4

Theres 2 sets of plugs here. Both siliconed up. Any1 know what these are for and why they would be siliconed?

    Close up.

    #5

These 2 plugs have always been unplugged. Since the car is running great I assume these are also right but why??!?!

    Close up... They go together.

    #6

The bottom brown plug has nothing. Whats supposed to go there?

    #7

This tube here is broke and plugged with a screw. Where is this supposed to lead too?

The other end leads to here... End with cable tie.

    #8

The final question for now. What is the tube with the bolt in it? Some type of drain?

Huge thanks for the help guys. I want to understand every aspect of this car. Im not the type to have some1 else work on my car. Hopefully this thread will help a few others like me in the future.

#4 - I believe this is the connection for the 2 Oxygen Sensors. Your car may be hard tuned to run closed loop only and thus runs without them.

#1 - These look like the 2 tubes that conenct to the stock boost control device. I have a Greddy Profec B, and both of those lines are capped off in my car as well.

Thanks GTRADDICT... Do it man! Take the plung! Cant explain the feeling of working on a RB26.

Haha, right on Phastwon. Its totally the oxygen sensors. Hmm and by hard tuned to run a closed loop, you mean? lol. Thats new stuff to me.

Yup them are also the stock boost control lines. There what drew my attn to the fact I dont have a boost controller at all. The importer said it had a 3way electronic boost controller in it and the owner was working on that when the car was imported. Told me to get a new 1 soon. Im mainly wondering about the blue line. Ive never seen a setup run from there.

          Thanks guys!

#1 Theres no vacuum on that one just boost pressure since it's before the throttle plates. I think I rigged this up to my bov or capped it off aswell

#2 Indeed a resistor pack. The RB20 injectors don't need them but the 26's do

#8 is for the clutch master booster which your GTS doesn't have. Nothing to worry about there

#7 Edit: I think that comes out of the balance tube. It's just a vacuum source

I don't have my car close or I would go look for the rest

#3, #5 and #6. one of them is the stock boost solenoid wires. since you said there was a afm boost controller, they wouldn't be used.

#3 is what you need to do when converting an automatic car to a 5 sp. I assume your car used to be an auto. Those 2 wires need to be soldered together to bypass power.

$5,6 are just spare plugs from the auto trans and or hicas I think. One could be for an oil pressure gauge. 4 dr harnesses are very similar to the AWD versions and the oil pressure wires on different harnesses run through the eng harness and GTR stuff runs through the batt harness. But your good. Its possible to clean those out but thats a whole other job that you prob dont need to get into.

Ive done about 15 or so 26 swaps into 4 dr's and your swap looks as normal as they come really.

Sweet car . I like the 4 dr R32's much more than the 2 dr ones. More nimble, easier to drift. POver all just a lighter feeling car with the extra piller bar. Yours totally reminds me of my RB26 cefiro. Same kind of plum color.

I wonder what yr your engine is tho, looks like a 32 motor with 33 harness. Icant see the crank, temp sensor is yellow and I see on the vacuum tube by the back of the intake a 90. The vacuum booster tubes have manufactured d/m/y stamped on them.

Good luck with it all! Cheers.
