  • Factory ecu?

Hey guys I searched but couldn't find anything. I read on another forum that the factory ecu on the r32 gtr is actually pretty good for aftermarket modifications it was said that if you can find someone that will tune it, it can support into the 800 horse range? And it's less prone to issues that u can get from alot of aftermarket ones (reliability wise I think) can anyone confirm this? Or is this just complete bull? even if it was I doubt it could support any aftermarket boost controllers or more than 1 programmed map but just curious thanks in advance

You can use Nistune. There are several threads about it.

I have heard of a Gtr hitting 800 hp on stock ecu before. The down fall being I believe it can only support the one map.
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

ah ok cool ill look up the nistune thank you darkcaporal and ya it would be nice to be able to run 2 or even 3 different maps but if thats the only sacrifice instead of a 1400 dollar ecu and my car will run just as good then why not im not goin for crazy power anyways. unless the factory ecu bunks out on me of course :P thanks guys

I have heard of people using the stock ecu but I would imagine it would need a reflash of the board and have all new stuff put in. If I found someone to do this I rather go thT route than aftermarket.

Doesn't the R33 GTR ECU have more FPROM memory and better map resolution? A R33 GTR ecu and nistune was in my way way future gameplan

BTW, is the R34 ecu backwards compatible?

Good point I was just thinking since I already have the r32 but I can't imagine an r33 ecu or even r34 for that matter would be as much as a new d-jetro or similar?

I paid 100$ for a R33 GTR ECU here on GTRC. Im going Nistune for the same reason you are. I want around 500hp on my setup and low/hi boost map thats it and on my old S30 Zed ive been told after 400hp the Z becomes very wild.

unless there has been some very recent developments I believe that the R33 GTR ecu cannot be used with nistune. If you have an R33 you need to get an R32 ecu and the 02 sensors. You might want to do more research

might have to change it then back when i got it i didnt plan to use nistune anyway .I wont lose that much if i sell it on ebay.

Got any links to point me in the right direction? I seriously thought R33s RB26 ecus were compatible... the engine iself is absolutely the same is it not?

Awesome. Good info, thank you wedge. Nistune will most likely be the way I go. I'm not after crazy power (not to be misleading the factory ecu with nistune can handle a lot of power) as a wise man once said. A simple setup is a reliable setup and for this reason I might go single turbo as well but thanks for the input guys, very helpful.

As already posted the nistune website is the best source nistune info. I found the aussie skyline forum to be full of nistune info as it seems to be big down there. The RB26 was mechanically similar in all the GTR's but was changed throughout the life cycle...The ecu's being one part that isnt always just a plug and play situation

k so i read the website. a little disapointed that you cannot use map sensors but not a huge deal, z32's ftw i guess. but it also said something about a difference between the early and late model r32 ecu. does anyone know if ther would be a benefit to buying a late model over my 1989 ecu? and also does anyone know if the ecu can control a water/meth kit (different flow rates at different boost levels and the ability to lower boost if the system loses pressure?) i was thinking of the snow performance kit. the site didnt mention anything about this. lol i may need to go to some sort of ems if im this picky i dont know "P thanks in advance guys
