  • 1991 Gtr R32 Battery question..?

Just stored my Skyline GTR32 for the winter. after 2 days my battery is drained and wont start... i can boost it but after a day or two the battery is dead again.

Im looking to replace the battery, What battery should i go with im looking for one from Walmart / Canadian tire or what not to hold me over for the winter.

Ive tried to see what model number i need for the select brands so far for:

    Everstart
    Energizer
    Optima

But cant seem to find a specific match all i can find is Optima Battery RED 34/78 and one with a different ??/??
Not sure which one would work for the car.

    any suggestions?

i have a optima red top in mine. works great but the battery is not as tall as the oem battery so the braket does hold it that well. i put a chunk of aluminium between to hold it. ill fab a bracket at some point

We use 51 or 51R sizes in our GTRs. I can't remember which it is though.

Deka batteries are nice and small, but don't be scared by the small ratings they pack plenty of power. Actually they are the company that makes the batteries that Braille rebadges and remarkets with much higher ratings. Unfortunately I didn't find this out until I had already bought a braille, I got the 17lb model, I'm happy with it but the deka version is cheaper than buying the braille, I think by about $50 or so.

I think this is the deka that is the same as the 17lb braille http://www.saskbattery.com/ecommerce_183.htm

I also have this battery http://www.saskbattery.com/ecommerce_185.htm in my evo4 that I drive in the winter works great and is compact. This one is the same as the braille 21lb

              It wasn't abolished, it doesn't exist. :P

Well it does but only for cars that dont have turn signals.

For your ticket, I would add, don't even contest it in court and all that crap. Just call the police department who gave you the ticket, speak to a supervisor and they'll drop it.

WTF Brian, you should have that part of the HTA in your glovebox bra! I've never had a problem with the Hamilton Police and RHD. Maybe buddy was having a bad day.
Dang! You got shocks, pegs... Lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?

Im lookin as well for a battery thats fits in a GTR but needs to be 5x8x8 because of a damn catch can mounted between battery and rad support.
Also, for those of us with Optima batterys, they make/sell/give away spacers that clip on the battery bottoms to make up the difference. I went to local parts store, asked about the spacer, guy called Interstate, "there will be one here for you tomorrow free of charge". So mayb an email to interstate letting them know how great Optimas are will get you a spacer.

Honestly Relocate your battery to the truck. I'm not even good an wiring and it was super easy.

All your doing is extending your power wire. Get a battery box threw Napa or summit racing/ they sell kits.

                        Plus better weight distribution!

Optimas are problematic, go for a Braille or the Deka. Once you fully drain an Optima you can almost never bring it back to life (at least the red tops) they used to be good before they got bought up. Ford GT's come from factory with them and we always replace them since like many GTR's Most Ford GT's Spend most of there life sitting.
