  • LOST car keys....please help

Well it's a sad day since I can't find my car keys anywhere.
My Gtr key is my toddlers favorite key to play with but not 100 percent sure it was him this time.
Bimmer key, Honda key, bike, no he only loves the shiny Gtr key I swear.
Anyone know if dealerships can make one using vin number or do I call some special locksmith?
If anyone has any ideas please do not hesitate to give your 2 cents.

    Thanks

I haven't dealt with this myself yet, but I would check with the dealership first but the chances that they would have a record for a car that old that wasn't here originally I would think would be slim. I'm sure a locksmith could make you a new one though. Again no experience on this but that's my two cents as requested

      Find the key.

Failing being able to find the key you'll have to rip the steering column apart and take the lock set out and either a: replace it or b: bring it to a locksmith and have it rekeyed. There should be a procedure in the FSM on how to do it, a 240sx/300ZX/other nissans of the same era should be similar.

Locksmiths can cut you a new one, they can use your door handle to do if, if the ignition key is the same. Doesn't cost too much.
Or you can replace the key cylinder and key as the above person noted. This will mean the door and ignition key will be different though.

You're totally right good cost as well.
Was thinking was gonna be a pricey fix.
What's the best price to get a Gtr key nowadays?
I saw some good prices online for like 50 bucks.

Ebay's a pretty good bet... too bad they're only R33 (embossed GT) keys, I'd want to replace my R32 (stamped GT) key

You would be able to order the key cylinder with a key, but it would be impossible to have them match with the doors.

I got a blank GTR key from RHDJapan for a spare cause I still have my original numbered key. Expensive, But totally worth it. Its getting it cut thats going to be the hard part since you need to find somewhere with a laser cutter.

RHDJapan offers the best quality performance parts made in Japan including Nismo, Mugen, Defi, Spoon, Cusco, Tomei, HKS and other JDM brands.

                        Never knew that.
Is there a specific reason it needs lase cutting?

Yes the metal its made with is different than a normal key. Its a lot stronger and you need a certain blade to cut it, and i guess laser cutters have it haha. I went to like 5 places and they wouldnt cut my key.
