Tranny Fluid - MT90 75W90

I have a 1990 Skyline GTR R32 and,

I plan on changing my tranny fluid with Redline MT90 75W90. I have bought 5 bottles (5L) which should be enough. Wondering if anyone else is running this any how its been, I have a sometimes grind in 4th and would like to get rid of it..

Basically want to assure its good for my car and potently will solve the slight grind.

Running it in my gts4, been almost a year now with no issues. I also had a grind in 4th and it cleared up with the MT-90.

I used to run that stuff, didn't fix the grinds for long. Been on heavy duty shockproof for some time now, no problems.

run mt90 while your tranny is good. if it starts grinding bad throw shockproof in. it will help the grinds but also eat your syncros.

Which will, Shockproof or Redline?

Redline is the brand , "shockproof" is a Redline product .

It is an extreme pressure gear oil with a low friction co-efficient making it ideal for syncho mechanisms. most extreme pressure oils naturally have a high friction co-efficient making them unsuitable for synchos due to the "drag" as they spin while engaging. This actually causes the synchros to wear out faster due to being over worked.

I know this because i had the same questions and actually called redline to ask

The shockproof is not compatible with early synchros but apparently its ok with the later ones .

I use heavy shockproof in mine because it used to grind in second third and fourth . doesnt grind at all now but its a little stiffer to shift when cold , great after 5 minutes of warming up .

BTW if your tranny grinds when shifting you will need a rebuild , its inevitable , the shockproof just puts this off for a while. I'll replace my tranny synchros and bearings when i swap motors later on.

Ok it seems to grind at lower rpms vs high rpms, and sometimes hard to get into gear... The motor from my car is from a r33 gtr so would that have stronger synchros vs the r32. I guess I can try mt90 and see how it goes and if it doesn't work then try the shock proof.

got any Proof? people say that but they're never actually witnessed it. I've had over 40,000km on that ****, no problems...

Check your clutch fluid level first and bleed it. Sounds like an engagment problem.

its 4L in the trans......so i had 3 mt90 bottles and found a left over mtl.....used it and its been 3 yrs and shifting is good....i had a light grind in 4th and 3rd gear and now gone............

use it....it should be good....i wouldnt use shockproof unless ur car ir a hardcore track car....

Alright i will try n check that when i get car out of storage. I'm not really sure how to check it n bleed it. I can prob figure it out tho.

Redline Shockproof isn't really recommended for GT-R transmissions.

Im going to change tranny fluid tomorrow and try and bleed the clutch lines again. if i still have trouble getting it into 1st gear, what else do you guys suggest?
