  • Mod suggestions before dyno tuning

    Hey guys,

I have a '93 GT-R. The only mods that it currently has are as follows:

    exhaust
    FMIC

As far as I know everything else, engine wise, is stock. I have been having trouble with my MAF's so I have decided to go with a MAP setup. I have recently aquired a PFC D-Jetro with 2 MAP sensors (not sure if 2 are necessary, it just came that way), Apex'i suction kit (MAF delete) and I will be getting the PFC boost controller as well.

When I get the car tuned I'm planning on raising the boost to 12-15 psi. My question is, are there any other mods that could/should be done at the same time?

Is it necessary to upgrade the fuel, ignition or cooling systems for these kinds of boost levels on stock turbos? Would there be any advantage to upgrading anything in the head (cams, etc.)?

Thanks in advance for the help guys!

you need both map sensors unless you mount one in the balance tube. just do it right and use both i believe in intake runners 2 and 4 check the manual tho. the turbos should hold up at 1 bar for a while but they may go due to the ceramic wheels just be prepared for that. they are stronger than people say tho i ran mine at 1 bar for over a year raping on them with no problems. your fuel should get you to one bar but a upgraded fuel pump would be nice just a drop in walbro will run you under 200 and a adjustable fpr would be nice as well. ignition system oem is great no need up upgrade coil packs unless you have problems. rips runs oem on big power build just make sure they are within spec to make tuning go smoothly. cams arent really necessary with your set up. your response cant get any better and the power gains would be minimal at that power level. just keep it simple and get on the dyno and enjoy it. maybe later down the road do a head gasket and head studs for more piece of mind.

One cheap mod that you will notice instantly and that I hightly reccomend is install a welded twin turbo pipe , they are cheap and take 10 mins to install. I have one Il sell you if you like.

Il tell you what if you pay shipping Il mail it to you and you can do back to back dyno runs and swap it out and compare it to the stock unit. If you dont want it you pay shipping back. If you do send me the $$.

Oh and have fresh plugs gapped properly, do a boost leak test on your entire charge system and just go over your car so all your tuner has to do is his job.
