Ball bearing turbos?

It was pointed out to me by another GTRCer that I may have BB turbos based on the amount of time it takes for them to audibly stop spinning. By "audibly" I mean you can still hear air being drawn in through the filters after the car has been shut down. This spinning down lasts up to 8-10 seconds from an idle of 1200 rpm on my car.

I've noticed in other stock GTRs with the same filters that this doesn't seem to occur.

Did I get an additional bonus when I bought my car? Is this maybe a result of worn turbos?

I'm going to try to borrow a borscope from work and try to see the ID tags on the housing as well.

Bring it to a tuner and try for 20 psi. You'll see lol. Would be a nice extra!!

How fast they slow down doesn't mean much. My stock ceramics kept spinning for a while and one of my new BB turbos nearly stops right away. Doesn't mean much I don't think.

It should make a difference. We time how long it takes for gas turbines to slow to a stop after shut down to monitor bearing condition. Granted the're a little bigger than our little turbos. The amount of friction will vary from a bushing to bearing as well.
That being said I suspect they are stock but would really like to confirm. My luck I'd order something and find out I already had something as good or better in the car (happened with the clutch). Borscope it is.

oil thickness, oil temperature, 1200rpm wich is a little high ( all things that affect turbo spool down) would be a reason they spin a little longer, only way to know is to remove some parts find a number on the center peice anything to give you information on your turbos would help rather then assuming

Yea I'm not going to assume anything. Like I mentioned above I'm going to get a borscope from work and take a look.

I would say VERY clost to that. Not quite that long but close.
