  • Clutch won't disengage - help!

So my clutch won't disengage. I have a newish(3-4k) nismo twin plate - push type.

    Heres what happened:

Car was working great. Parked the car in a parking lot - no issues. Started it, tried to put it into gear and could not get it in gear. Wtf. I hoped out and got someone else to push the pedal for me. There seemed to be plenty of travel in the slave but it would not go into gear. I then pumped the pedal about 10 times and presto! The clutch worked.

Drove the car out of the parking lot and got a couple hundred feet down the road then I lost my clutch again and could not get it back. Ended up towing the car home. I just got under it and had someone push the pedal. Still seems to be lots of travel. I even pulled the fork boot out and took a lot, nothing looks damaged and I can see the throwout bearing pushing on the clutch well.

NOTE: The clutch pedal went from being very firm and somewhat stiff to being very light and easy to push.

    Two questions:

    1) How far should the slave cylinder push the fork? Mine pushes the fork just over 3/4 of way (IE: the whole way being the fork touching the bell)

    2) Any one else have any other ideas?

There has got to be one person on here that knows how much much travel the clutch fork should have...

Sounds like air in the system. Try bleeding it out.

My first thought would be the slave, fork or pivot ball, but since they seem to be fine i would take a look at the clutch disc. Its possible you broke one or more of the springs.
I canz take this corner at 195k cause i gots AWDZ. Get real.

Hey guys, I have a fiber op scope and I scoped the inside of the bellhousing. Can't see and broken fingers on the pressure plate/no other broken fragments. Doesn't seem to be anything going on in there out of the ordinary.

I've tried to bleed the clutch but still didn't improve anything. However, I still have that stupid loop that they came with from the factory. Could be air trapped in there... I think I have a union that would fit the clutch lines - I'm going to try and by pass it and bleed it again. It really does feel like there is air in the system but where did it come from all of a sudden??

Can anyone do me a huge favor and check how close the fork comes to casing when the cluch is disengaged? That would help alot.

Did you put in the right throw out bearing?
