Kind of a basic question but do I rotate the crank gear clockwise or anti, to set the TDC?

Timing Cover Removal.....ran into a snag - need help ASAP

Your going to have to do it clockwise as you need to pry on the crank bolt to turn the motor. And if you turned it counter clockwise you would be loosening the bolt (and not turning anything (unless the bolt is really tight of course) anyway I did it clockwise. ( I tried it the other way and it went one turn then Spun off) and yes you do need the belt on to set tdc it's an interference engine so you don't want the pistons moving around with the valves sitting open.
