Since you say you have fuel pressure you might also want to take the plugs out and check your piston heads for fuel flooding since you've been wailing on the starter. I don't get how you could have spark + fuel + compression at ignition and not getting some combustion before dying.

If you had spark fuel & compression (at the right time) you would have a running vehicle lol Assuming you checked the basics and 100% sure you have spark/fuel I would recommend...

      - Check all connectors you touched
      - Check all vacuum sources you touched
      - Check Knock Sensors , Did you disconnect the knock sensor(s) for some reason while under the manifold?
      - Check CAS (shouldnt have fuel/spark if there is a no signal, maybe its out?)
      - Check physical timing
      - Long shot, but said you heard a bang... check the starter, maybe you lost a tooth? Seen it happen!

To my knowledge the only sensors that will cause no start cranking when disconnected are the MAF and CAS. Seriously, check your fuel pressure and spark. Throw a timing light on your first coil and see if it lights up when cranking. My bet would be on a dead CAS, dead coils/ignition issue, or a straight up disconnected CAS or MAF. Even with a huge vac leak, disconnected knock, super retarded timing.. the engine would start and just run like garbage. Might be worth checking if you have bubble in the coolant res or huge amounts of blow by out the oil fill cap, although I've seen engines with total compression loss on more than one cylinder still fire up and move a car around.

Headgaskets can leak if head warps and it causes a leak in oil system only (creates a vacuum leak, as head is usually connected to intake via PCV system). When do compression test it can seem fine and within spec (a few cylinders might be lower than others) and coolant looks fine as well. You can see this oil leak from under car with oil spirting out onto top, bottom of engine from inbetween head, block on front and rear of engine.

Now I am having this problem too! New Tomei 'A' cams & cam gears, new fuel pump, cranks over but won't fire, do get a cough now and again, charging the battery so more and re-checking electricl connections, will open up can check plugs next, fingers crossed...
