Raped by shops? Most of the guys that try to do things themselves end up fragging things worse (not saying everyone but most). Not everyone can do every task. I'm sure you do all your own plumbing, electrical, concrete, gas fitting, shingling, drywalling, mudding, painting, window replacement, tiling, hardwood flooring and funance install so why not build a fast car too!

People that you hire to do things for you aren't certified professionals that know what they're doing better than you, they're there to rape you and take your money. You're better off rebuilding your own engine.

      I agree.

Can do it yourself if have the tools, etc. Just follow manual for sequence to remove head, sequence to torque head down, torque settings (to prevent warping of head), etc. Cylinder head specialist does the skimming of deck of head, valve, valve guide replacement, reseating valve seats, valves, etc.

With coolant, just make sure it's the correct coolant for engine (don't mix coolant's), use Nissan brand coolant if unsure. Drain, flush the heater core, flush engine out.

Can use new ARP or stock head bolts, Nissan repair gasket kit or Tomei gasket kit would be better (metal intake, exhaust gaskets, metal headgasket, etc).
